I nearly tripped on something, my feet stumbling over the floor.

I moved to lunge forward, to try my hand at running, but I was stopped by his large hand smacking against the middle of my forehead.

Ow!

I attempted to move, but I couldn’t. A weird sort of energy befell me, like a lullaby.

Making my eyes tired, and my bones feel like Jello.

The strange words he chanted made me feel funny.

I could barely keep my eyes open.

The world faded to black, and I was powerless to submit to the darkness as the fire in me flickered, fading into an ember once more.

Violet!Can you hear me?

A voice called to me, but it was faint and far away.

Like a whisper, or a prayer.

“I... can hear... you,” I said as I looked around the darkness, but there was nothing.

“I can’t see you...” I said as I walked forth across the cold water, searching through the sea of darkness for a light.

A spark.

“Where are you?” the voice asked, smooth like caramel.

Something about it was familiar...

In the distance I could see a light.

A bright, golden light.

No, a flame.

Warmth pulsed from its center as I ran toward it, just as I had that day I’d found my spark, my home.

The Kingdom of Lir called me home then and now...

Bane was calling me home.

“Bane!” I yelled into the darkness, reaching for the light.

“I can’t reach you, I—”

“Where are you?” he asked, his voice strained, full of pain and guilt.

“I... don’t know, I—”

“Where were you going?”

Home, I was going home...
