I’d never felt so... so... whole.
Like all the cracks within me had finally sealed, and I was finally whole again.
But I was here, and she was gone...
I’m sure there’s a reason...
I dropped my hands, shaking my head as I shifted back to my human form, and that’s when I saw the note on the floor.
I picked it up, my hand shaking as I prepared for the worst.
Bane,
I don’t know how to say this, because I have been sworn to secrecy, but Blackthorn has informed me that I am being given a chance to discover who I really am.
You have been amazing, and I truly wish I could tell you everything, but I can’t. I can only tell you that you inspire me to reach for the stars, and your constant praise and support is what has given me the courage to pursue this opportunity.
I meant everything I said to you.
You are my anam cara, my soul’s mate.
You are my spark.
But now, I must come to life and rage as the flame you believe I am.
Believe in me, and believe in our bond, should you feel scared. For wherever I am, I will feel you until we meet again.
I will always feel you.
Wherever I am, you are, too.
My hands shook as my vision turned black. I felt my claws shift, the sound of shredded paper loud in the cold air.
I can’t do this. I can’t...
I rose from the couch, realizing not only was I naked, but I’d completely shredded the remainder of my pants when I went beast-mode on Violet yesterday.
Luckily, I kept a spare uniform in the dresser in my dungeon, in case of emergencies. I waltzed over to open the drawer, my anger and frustration culminating beneath the surface like a witch’s brew.
I threw on my clothes.
Blackthorn did this. She pulled Violet in and took her away from me...
My monster roared beneath my skin as I buttoned my jacket.
She was going to make this right.
I sped out of my love nest, all but flying up the steps back out into the world of the academy. I could tell by the amount of students and the overpowering smell of coffee and pancakes that it wasn’t quite afternoon yet, which meant I’d only slept through one of my classes.
I didn’t even look where I was going, and in my rage ran into a solid mass.
“Hey, Bane! Where’s the fire?” Aiden asked far too cheerily for my taste.
I huffed as I regaled him with a look that clearly said ‘get out of my way,’ when I realized the student body was bustling with chatter.
More so than usual.
What had happened while I was out like a light?
