Delaney sighed as Wanda grunted in annoyance, my mother and Norman chuckling as the sun shone down on myanam cara.My soul’s mate.
“Every flame needs its spark,” he whispered as he kissed me once more, infusing me with grace and love, and hope.
So much hope for the future.
EPILOGUE
One Month Later…
Violet
I paced backand forth behind the curtain, feeling as if I may actually throw up. Standing up in class and learning wand skills or completing alchemical formulas on a blackboard was one thing, but giving a speech... that was something else altogether.
“Hey!” Delaney’s voice pulled me from my thoughts of stumbling and fumbling my speech.
“Hey...” I said as I wiped my sweaty palms on my purple satin dress.
I’d never been one to get dressed up, and most of the time I was in my uniform here, except during dress down times, in which case I relished getting to wear my sweatpants and cozy sweaters.
These damn halls are so chilly all the time!
But I had to admit, it did feel nice to get all dolled up, even if I was going to end up making a fool of myself.
You’ve literally faced dark faeries, Vi. You can handle a little speech...
“Hey...” I said cracking a half smile.
“Are you ready for a spectacular evening?” she said cheerily, her bright green eyes full of excitement.
I was excited for the banquet, but I was not excited about having to address my peers as someone other.
Someone special.
A princess.
But not just any princess... one that people never expected to hear from again...
My facial expression must have been tempestuous, because Delaney furrowed her brows and sighed, taking my arm in her hand..
“You’ll be fine, I promise.”
“I’m just... not good with crowds. And speeches.”
“Well, you better get used to it,Your Highness, because I have a feeling this won’t be the last.”
“Not helping, Delaney,” I said with a sigh.
She pulled me into a hug, and I had to admit it did actually quell some of my nerves.
“Just imagine every naked, like I do. Works like a charm,” she said with a wink.
“Violet, are you ready?” Headmistress Blackthorn said as she emerged from the shadows.
How does she do that?
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” I said with a gulp.
“Break a leg, babe!” Delaney said in her singsong, chipper tone as she scampered off on her long legs toward the auditorium.
