At that moment, Brian wished the night could last forever, because come morning he knew it would all turn to dust.
She would regret him. They always did. In the light of day, he was nothing more than a nerdy librarian with a cat and an obsession with Greek mythology. He was dull, uninteresting, and his interests were far too niche to be exciting for anyone who didn’t appreciate history, literature, and painting miniatures.
“By the gods, I hope so,” he breathed as he kissed her once more, feeling the edges of her lips twist up into a smile.
Athena moaned in contentment as she let him go, sliding her hand in his.
His sights fell on her beautiful, naked form as she turned around, giving him quite a look at what he’d already marked and coveted.
Mine.
And as Athena pulled him down the shadowed corridors toward her bedroom, Brian vowed to worship the Goddess before him until they were both spent, until the sun came up to steal away his dreams once more.
CHAPTER5
The sun filteredin through Athena’s windows and sheer cream curtains, casting a hazy glow on her and the beautiful man entangled with her.
Athena couldn’t help the smile that befell her as she gently pushed herself up on her side, tracing a soft fingertip along Brian’s smooth hairline. She did not wish to wake him, as he looked so peaceful among the twisted sheets in the light of new dawn. Being the Goddess that she was, she was no stranger to drinking or waking up alone, though most of the time Athena’s need to fly the coop was out of self-preservation and an innate animal desire to be free of chains and bondage, even if the only bondage she saw anymore was that of the awkward morning after where reality set in.
The memory of their night of passion filled her consciousness and she could not help but blush uncontrollably as the images filled her brain with renewed vigor.
In all her years, she’d never met a man—human or otherworldly creature—who could keep up with her desires the way thishumanman certainly had.
Everything felt tender, not quite sore, but tinged with the reminder of just all the places Brian had been. Brian moved closer to her in his slumber, his hand pulling at her back, pulling her closer. She let out a soft giggle as she followed his slumberous action, the motion putting her smack against his already stiff cock, awakening the same hunger she’d felt the night before.
Gods what is wrong with me?
I’ve never felt this starved for a man before in my life!
Such a thought should have been quite sobering for Athena, but it was not.
Instead, it spurred a new desire in her, a hunger for more of the blessed magic that this man was capable of giving her.
She was as the humans would say, absolutely hooked.
As if he too could read her thoughts, Brian stirred, his long eyelashes standing out against his skin, his amber eyes catching stray rays of sunlight, lighting up the most beautiful gold.
“Good morning,” she purred as she leaned in and kissed him.
Brian startled for a moment, but soon relaxed into her kiss, a soft sound of contentment leaving him as his lips sweetly moved against hers. Brian tightened his grip on her waist as she opened her mouth, sliding her tongue into his. He groaned in response before breaking away.
“You’re real,” he murmured as he gazed back at her.
“Of course I’m real, why wouldn’t I be?” she asked with a smirk.
“I half-worried I’d drunkenly dreamed you up,” he said quietly.
It was only the two of them in her bedroom, and Athena realized with startling memory that she could not truly remember the last time she’d brought a man to her literal bed.
Or her home in general.
Usually, Athena followed her seducers to their tiny apartments or large mansions and was gone by sunrise. Though on occasion she had brought lovers home to her place of residence, they never made it past the living room.
The reality of such things left her feeling a sense of awe and fear as well.
Brian reached his hand out, pushing some strands of golden hair away from her face.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly.
