“Patience...Athena...” Brian purred against her lips. Her name on his tongue was like a prayer long forgotten, igniting her blood with a fire that only wanted to spread, to burn.

She hated waiting.

No one made her wait for anything...

Instantly, the sparks of his words caught her desire, and she retaliated by disrobing him of his pants with haste.

“No one tells me what to do...” she said as she stared back at him. The smirk that befell his angelic, innocent looking face was anything but.

“Perhaps they should. Perhaps someone should put you in your place for once,” he said darkly as he gently pushed her hand away, palming his cock himself.

“Turn around,” he breathed. There were a hundred alarm bells sounding in Athena’s ears, for she did not appreciate Brian’s tone. It was not synonymous with the shy, somewhat bashful man who’d been stuck at the bar all night unable to socialize, but yet she could not deny the words themselves made her feel a sinful twist, made her coreheat.

No not, his words themselves...

The way in which he said them, the way in which hedemandedshe obey his command.

“Make me,” she said as she leaned in closer, close enough she could take his lips upon hers, shove him down into the soft cushions of her couch, where she could encircle her fingers around his wrists, straddle his thighs, and show him who was really in charge.

The thought caused a welcoming wetness to bloom in her heated core.

This was certainly new, but she rather liked traveling through unknown territory, especially being around as long as she had.

She was both surprised, but enticed all the same when Brian wrapped his fingers around her throat, kissing her with a brutal force, his tongue accosting her mouth with determination and adoration. As if he could worship her alone with just his wet, warm, sinful tongue, and bring her to absolute bliss.

And as soon as it came it was over, his lips breaking away as he spun her by the hips and forced her to brace herself against the arm of her sofa without a second thought. Athena bent over instinctively, if only to catch herself from the whiplash of motion, feeling for the first time in her very long life a sense of uncertainty.

Who is this man and where has he been all my life?

CHAPTER4

Brian couldn’t becertain what had come over him, but he knew without a doubt, he wanted more of it.

How was it that this person, thisGoddess—because she was certainly as beautiful and inspiring as the real Athena of legend—was capable of bringing out a side of him he hadn’t known existed until this very moment?

Athena seemed to spark a maddening desire inside of him and it went well beyond one’s basic instinct to fornicate and procreate.

No, this desire, this new desire that had blossomed in Brian’s very being was much, much deeper rooted than that.

It was a desire toclaimthis woman, to bind himself to her in every way possible. To leave his mark on the very fabric of her essence, down past the muscles and tendons, past the bones and the blood to hersoul.

He wanted toown it.

The strange burgeoning of the wordminerepeated in his head like a record stuck on repeat.

He’d never been a possessive man; in fact, he couldn’t remember ever feeling so strongly about... well, anything in his short twenty-nine years of life.

Maybe I am losing my marbles. Maybe I’ve truly descended into madness like every notable scholar in history...

Brian could not think of any other logical, reasonable explanation, even given his tipsy state.

Because the moment Athena commanded him, told him to wait... it was like a switch had been flipped and there was no dismantling it.

Like the Hulk, he had become someone else.

And Brian had to admit, he liked this new, bolder, more confident man who’d taken over his body likeInvasion of the Bodysnatchers.

He settled his hand at the base of Athena’s slender back, holding her in place as he used his knees to push apart her legs with a force that commanded she listen.
