Like he needed this, needed her as much as she needed him.
And when he finally stilled, crushing his lips to hers, she felt something grow inside of her, blossoming like a flower in a dark cave, bathed under a single stream of light.
She felt... fulfilled in a way she never had before.
And as Brian softened inside her, as his release dripped down the inside of her thighs, she thought perhaps Heaven was not a place.
Brian’s arms wrapped around her in a tight embrace and he buried his head against her back, a soft sound that sounded almost like a sob breaking their silence.
Athena wasn’t certain how long they remained like that, connected as one against his car in the dark parking lot. All she knew was that when he finally broke away from her, she felt the most blissful peace she’d ever felt in her life.
She felt like she’d finally found hermore.
CHAPTER15
As Brian pulledup to the hospital parking lot, he was certain of two things. That he was in fact, the luckiest man in the world, and that Athena was more than just some woman he’d met at a bar and shared a night full of amazing sex with.
Because never in all his life, had he ever felt so connected to the universe than when he was buried inside of her.
It was the kind of connection where he could feel the rushing of the water beneath his feet, hear the sound of owls hooting in the distance, where touching her brought forth a litany of images, thoughts, dreams he’d never thought were attainable before.
Her voice was like a beacon in a long dark night as she led him to his destination. Every sound, every touch, was so intense it made him feel as if he would explode from sensation alone. It was as if the universe poured itself into him through their bond, as if even it knew that the way they fit together was more than physical chemistry.
It was as if they weremadefor one another.
He’d almost forgot they were in aparking lot.
The world fell away in her presence.
Nothing existed, nothing mattered but her.
The Goddess Athena.
Everything was so... overwhelming, and the light that filled him, the stars he chased were so wondrous and all consuming he couldn’t fight it.
Thisbondbetween them was magical. That he was sure of.
Because in his heart, he knew Athena was more than she pretended to be.
As far as he was concerned, she was truly a Goddess.
For no mere mortal woman could give him the absolute serenity she was capable of giving him with a kiss or a touch or...
The love that spread within his blood as he found release was too much. The tears that came to his eyes were a catharsis he’d never known.
It made him feel stronger, braver.
And in that moment, Brian did not wish to let Athena go.
Ever.
Though he was more than aware that such a reaction was also not... normal.
“You don’t have to come in, I’ll just be a few minutes,” he said, taking in the sight of the woman in front of him. Her grey eyes no longer boasted a silver glow, something he knew he did not imagine. He’d thought perhaps he’d dreamed up such things the night she’d brought him home, only a mere forty-eight hours ago.
But as she turned to look at him over her shoulder, he’d seen their glow like weary travelers see Polaris.
Yeah, normal people don’t have eyes that freaking glow...
