Sergi nodded at themall as he finished the story of how they all got away from an explosion that they should not have survived.“Then when those two crazy women kidnapped Anita, you all saw what Faith could do as she retrieved Anita from certain death. That is all I can call it.Retrieveas Faith got her out of a brick building that was locked up tight.I met Bane briefly before that and I saw him in Boston when I was last there. That was when I learned a little bit more about him. He’s a very dangerous man, make no mistake about that, but his group is different than most. From what I learned about him...He has a code and he lives by that code. And isn’t that what we do?We have a code we live by as well.”

Yuri blew out his breath and nodded.“Yes, and we can get some insight into the workings of the criminal mind.As this Killian seems to be just that.I wasn’t aware that you knew Mr.Jessin so well though.”

“I do not think anyone canknowa man like Banewell.”Sergi scoffed.“But yes, this is a good thing for our mission in fact. He’ll probably be bringing some of his team with him.If you will recall, they are his own family for the most part and he trusts them.I’ve seen their work and it’s thorough, very thorough, but they don’t think like we do.Look at this like a learning experience. And remember that they won’t ask you to do anything they wouldn’t do themselves.”

Again, Serenity and Nicky smiled.

“We learned a lot from VIM,” was all Nicky would say.

This getting a team in to help the Bratva had been somewhat of a surprise.None of them wanted to question Sergi about this or any other decision he makes and they didn’t do so now.

They all had lunch in the security room.

Nicky took Serenity to their rooms as he wanted her to nap. They had gotten as far as they could in research for now.She was about five months along and she did need to slow down. Before she left the room, Serenity flat out told them that there was no information on Killian at all.He had paid for the dead end to exist or someone had been done in to get rid of any information online.

The afternoon passed slowly until around 3 p.m.when Bane and James showed up.

Serenity and Nicky also arrived and they waved at James.

Bane shook Sergi’s hand then Sergi introduced Yuri and the other brothers.Bane shook hands with everyone.

James asked where he could set up and Kosta gave them their own table.James got himself busy trying to track Killian’s movement. He then sent a photo over to Kosta’s computer.

Kosta paused then turned to him.

James shrugged.“I thought you might want to know what Killian looks like.”

Kosta looked surprised. After what Serenity told them, he sure didn’t expect this.He nodded and popped the photo up on his screen then he hit the print button. The photo printed out.

Felix walked over and picked up the paper to study it then passed it around to the rest of the men.

Viktor snapped a photo of it on his phone and sent it to his men.He then passed the photo to the next person in line.Looking at Bane, he asked.“Why do you want this man Killian too?”

“Because Killian owes me.”His voice was flat, no emotion at all.”

“How so?”Sergi dared to ask.

“Fifteen years ago, I was hunting a contract, but I didn’t know he was also hunting the same contract. He was hired by someone else.Instead of doing the work, he decided to follow me and let me do the work of finding the man we were both hunting. It wasn’t until the third day when I realized he was following me.No one had ever dared do it before.I told him to back off but he wouldn’t.As soon as he figured out where I was going he got in there first. He butchered the contract, then he went on to kill everyone in the house. That included the mark’s wife and three small children. His wife and children didn’t need to die.But he killed them to get one up on me.He knew I didn’t hunt women and children but he killed them anyway. Then he blamed me for what he’d done. The man I took the contract from wouldn’t pay me as he said I went well beyond what he wanted done.”

They all listened to this tale of two hitmen with peaked interest.

Bane went on, “Then I began to hear rumors of my work being jacked up with the same type of ruthlessness and that just pissed me off.He tried to destroy my name and that was something I wouldn’t let just pass.I hit back.I found his hidden lair and I tore it apart brick by brick, stone by stone. Then I leaked his address and told everyone in our world just who took the lives of the woman and her children.I told everyone the contract was only on the man, not his family and that Killian took it too far.My name was restored and Killian had to go underground for the longest time. Our world was small and reputations mean a lot.Killian was found to be a liar and untrustworthy. But he owed me more than what he took and I’ve been watching out for him ever since.”Bane looked over at Sergi and asked, “Have you determined if someone hired Killian?”

Sergi shook his head.“Net, we have not.”

Bane nodded.“He could also be her protection as well.Like he does sell that service quite a bit.

Sergi pondered this and shrugged.“We believe he had a deal with LaDonna Rinc.He paid for a dangerous weapon. He had a payment pending to her as well. Now, we have possession of those weapons. So he will come after us in any case.”

Viktor nodded.“It is inevitable.”
