The internet had mentioned a room he made bargains in, so I wasn’t caught off guard.
I’d researched the hell out of him. Considering I was about to trade a piece of my soul, learning as much as possible had seemed wise.
He strode across the loft, and I stayed close behind, trying not to check him out any more than I already had.
Considering the tight ball of need in my lower belly, I mostly failed.
Callum opened the door and waited for me to step through. The room was spacious. There was a mini bar set up on the back wall, and a door that I assumed led into a private bathroom off to the side of it.
In the center of the room, there were two couches set up across from each other. Behind them, there was a plush, oversized chair.
"What's your name?" he asked me, as he walked to one of the couches.
"Kat."
"Interesting choice for a werewolf."
"It's short for Katherine."
He sat down.
I sat too.
Our gazes locked, and it felt like there was something between us for a moment.
"He smells unnaturally good,"Sable remarked.
"It's just heat, and his magic."
"No one's ever smelled like that before. You should fuck him."
"I distinctly remember you saying he was going to kill me a few minutes ago."
"Just think about it. Look how pretty he is,"she pressed.
"You're going to get us killed."
"You're the one who wanted to make a deal with him."
I hadn’twantedto.
It was just my only option.
"You do look similar to the new Alpha. Gwen?" he asked.
I nodded.
If the favor he demanded from me in the future had to do with her… well, I’d prefer never to see her again, but I’d figure it out.
"Let’s begin with the obvious. You’re in heat, Kat. Female werewolves aren’t known for being clear minded during heat," Callum stated.
He was right.
We weren’t.
"I’m aware, but I don’t have a partner to end it quickly, and I’m out of time. I didn’t exactly anticipate losing my sister like this."
The king dipped his head. His messy waves seemed to be the only uncontrolled thing about him. I ignored the irrational urge to bury my fingers in them. There was too much space between us to manage it, anyway. "You only need money."
