“But I like hovering.” He pulled her close. “And I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
Their kiss left them both breathless.
“Before your family arrives, I want to burn incense at the altar,” he said. “To share the good news and ask my ancestors to watch over our little one.”
She nodded, loving his deep connection to his kin. She had been by his side when he made an offering of Ling Ling’s hair, finally giving his sister the peace she deserved. Since then, he had seemed lighter, shadows lifting from his eyes. He shared happy memories about his past, and even though Glory had not met his sister or parents, she felt like she was beginning to know them. That she was becoming as much a part of his family as he was of hers, their legacies weaving seamlessly into the fabric of the life they were creating together.
Wei and Glory finished getting dressed. They were walking hand in hand through the courtyard, FF II bounding ahead of them, when they ran into Yao. He was accompanied by the Angels.
“Good morning, ladies.” Glory regarded her friends with surprise. “I thought we were meeting to discuss the new case this afternoon. What are you doing here so early?”
“It’s Charlie,” Livy said urgently. “She is in trouble and needs our help.”
