I watched his tongue roll from one side to the other. “Right.” I quickly went into the closet to put some clothes on.

When I came out in sweatpants and a hoodie, he looked at me again and had this strange look in his eyes. I wondered what crossed his mind, but I didn’t ask.

“Let’s get this figured out,” I told him as I grabbed my coat.

We left the cabin and made the quick walk to the rental office. I walked ahead of him, and I could feel his eyes on my ass the whole time.

“Hello, Maranda. I’m in cabin two, and for some reason, this guy seems to think it’s his cabin.” I looked over at him, and he had his eyes trained on me.

In the brighter light, I could see how damn good he looked. He pulled his hat back, and I noticed his roots were a little darker than the ends. His locs came a little past his shoulders. He had a mustache that connected to a full beard. His thick eyebrows furrowed as he looked between Maranda and me.

“I’m sorry about that. Let me see what happened.” She typed a few things on the computer. “Uh-oh.”

Goldie stepped forward. “Uh-oh. Uh-oh, what?”

Maranda looked down again and typed something else. I chewed the corner of my lip because I didn’t like the look on her face when she looked back up at us.

“So, it looks like the cabin was double-booked.”

“Double-booked!” Goldie and I yelled at the same time.

“I’m sorry. Let me see if I can find another one.” She went back to typing on her computer again, and my nerves were shot. I hoped she could find another cabin. It took her all of sixty damn seconds to look at us again with disappointment on her face. “It looks like there are no more vacancies, and with the impending storm, there probably aren’t any vacancies for miles.”

I could feel my heart thumping in my ears. A storm and no vacancies meant I would probably have to share the cabin with Goldie. He was nice to look at, but he could have been some type of panty sniffer or something. People did weird stuff. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense that something was wrong with him. He should have been out with his girlfriend or something because he looked too good not to have someone who didn’t play about him.

“Maranda, is it?” he asked from the side of me. Maranda nodded. “I understand that you don’t have anything else, but I don’t understand how you managed to book two different people in the same room.”

“Mr. Nelson, I can assure you that it was a mistake, and you both will be compensated for your troubles. I can do a free weekend for each of you at a later date.”

A free weekend didn’t sound bad, but that wouldn’t help the problem that we faced.

“That’s great and all, but that doesn’t help anything right now.” He took the words right out of my mouth.

Maranda was on her computer again, but I knew nothing would change. I could pack my shit and head back home before the storm came, but I paid my money for a relaxing weekend. Maybe this Mr. Nelson person could go wherever he came from. I was there first, so I shouldn’t have to be the one to leave.

“I tried to find something else, but unfortunately, I can’t. I know it’s only one bed, so I can send up a rollaway bed.

Mr. Nelson scoffed. “I didn’t pay to sleep on a bed with cheap ass wheels. I came here for a relaxing weekend and to do some hunting.” His eyes cut over to me. “And now you are telling me I have to share a room with a stranger.”

He acted like it was a big deal, when I was the one who should have been scared. Why did he have to sayhuntinglike that, then look at me? Oh, God. He probably planned on skinning me alive.

“Again, I’m so sorry. I don’t advise you to leave the grounds, because the snow comes quickly and sticks pretty fast. I wouldn’t want either of you to get stuck.”

“We’ll make it work, Maranda.” He winked at her, and she had the nerve to blush.

I rolled my eyes and stomped away from the desk. Lord, don’t let me get killed when I was just trying to have a relaxing weekend.

I followedbehind shorty after she stomped away from the desk. I understood her being upset, but there was nothing we could do about the situation. I damn sure wasn’t trying to sleep on an uncomfortable ass rollaway bed. Shorty was going to have to share the bed or some shit.

As soon as I reached the cabin, the door slammed in my face. I chuckled and shook my head before I unlocked the door. Thankfully, she didn’t put the additional lock on the door, or I would have been fucked.

When I entered the house, I kicked my boots off by the door and took off my coat. The heat was on full blast, and I was hot as hell.

I heard noise in the kitchen, so I went back there.

“Since we are stuck here together, are you going to at least tell me your name?”

She dropped the cup on the counter and faced me with a scowl. My eyes glanced at the diamond studs in her ears, then down to her hips as her hands rested on them.
