Iwake up the next morning to the sound of a door opening and shutting, followed by light conversation. My eyes slowly lift before I take in my surroundings. Pale pink walls, delicate feminine décor and a woman that is absolutely not my girlfriend.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Pushing Cassi to the side as gently as I can, I rush for my clothes, glancing at the time on her phone.

8:15am.

Son of a bitch.

I forgot to set an alarm on account of me leaving it on the couch and coming running upstairs last night. She literally said jump and I was already in the air. Goddamnit, how did I let this happen?

A sleepy looking Cassi sits up, her bottom half still completely naked as she murmurs.

“What’s the matter?”

“We slept in. It’s a quarter after seven.”

Her dazed look vanishes, her eyes bugging out of her head as she looks at her phone.

“FUCK! I’m gonna be late for work,” she says as she rushes for that bathroom.

I intercept her before she can and hold her in place for a moment before stealing a kiss.

“I leave before you get off work but I want you to text me throughout the day and let me know when you’re safe.”

“Okay,” she says as she attempts to get past me.

“And I want you to come see me in Boston. Soon. I’ll send the plane, I’ll come and get you myself if that’s what it takes.”

“Really?” she asks, pausing for a moment.

I can’t help but let out a short laugh as I shake my head and press a kiss to her lips.

“Really. Promise me you’ll come? We can just…be.”

Her face softens at my words as she nods.

“I’d love to.”

A huge smile spreads across my face before I can stop it as I dip down and scoop her up for one last kiss, holding her face like I’m being shipped off to war and this could be the last kiss we ever share.

She tears away from me with a goofy smile as she playfully shoos me away and rushes to the bathroom, shutting the door before the sound of the shower turns on. I find myself still staring after her grinning. I know for a fact that wasn’t our last kiss, though. I’ll be making sure of it.

Turning to leave her room, I carefully open her door, looking from side to side before I step out. I only make it a step or two before I crash right into Mary. I steady her quickly as she startles.

“Oh!”

“Shit, I’m sorry. Are you okay?” I ask.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Did you come out of Cassi’s room?” she asks, confusion coloring her expression.

I falter only for a moment before I shake my head.

“Half asleep from the bathroom trying to find myway back to Carly’s room. You’d think after a week here I’d be more acclimated,” I laugh.

Mary looks at me like she doesn’t believe my shit for one second but for some reason, she lets it go, nodding her head in agreement.
