Aurus drops to the sand. The mace whistles overhead, lodging in the wall. Aurus swings his sword and skewers his opponent from behind. He whirls, and knocks three more Alphas out.

It’s insane how fast he is. Maybe he’s just a better fighter, or maybe he’s more practiced at handling the madness that seems to have come over all these Alphas. Whatever it is, I’m glad he can best his own soldiers.

The curtain starts to tear under my weight. I scrabble for a better grip, but my arms are growing tired. “Aurus!”

He throws aside his weapon. Around him, the ground is littered with blades and fallen bodies.

“Jump,” he orders, arms outstretched. “I’ve got you.”

I push off the wall and let go. For a moment, I seem to float. Then I’m thunking into his arms. He squeezes me tightly, sniffing my hair.

“Stay here.” He pushes me back, and blocks me from the rest of the arena, guarding me with his body. Drops of red are beading on his back, mingling with the sweat—but the smooth, golden skin underneath is unscathed. It’s not his blood.

I hang my head. I don’t know what the fuck just happened, butdamn. He beat up his own soldiers, and even killed a couple, it seems. For me.

Further down the field, armored Alphas in full-visored helmets are grabbing the bare-headed soldiers. Those in full armor bash the rabid ones over the head and drag them away. The limp bodies leave tracks in the sand.

A few escape, and come racing towards Aurus. He sprints to meet them. The sun glints off the weapons. One by one, he takes them down, punching them unconscious instead of killing them.

Eventually, only the fully visored Alphas are left. They clear off the grounds, then line the back of the arena, spread out into a defensive pattern.

There’s only one Alpha out of armor, standing on the pale pink sand in the center of the arena, near the raised platform. The biggest, baddest, cockiest one of all.

Sweat runs down the grooves of his tawny muscles. He raises his head, and roars.

My body jerks as if he’s touched an intimate part of me. My head grows heavy, my lids half closing. I take a step, and my perfume hits the air.

He turns slowly. “Kim,” he growls. His new leather and sandalwood scent hovers around him in a shimmering cloud, a potent punch to the senses. My bones turn liquid.

Warmth ripples through me like I’ve taken a shot of liquor. A wave of wanting washes through me, making me sway like a drunk. I trot a few more steps, then drop to my knees.

He prowls closer, his throbbing growls punctuating each step.

I fall forward, fisting my fingers in the sand, holding onto the ground as if the growling will blow me away otherwise. I’m a hollow, aching bundle of flesh and nerves and need. I need…

“Kim.” Aurus has crouched into my line of sight, just in front of the raised platform. Behind him, at the back of the arena, are the lines of helmeted Alphas. But they don’t matter. Nothing does. Nothing but this need.

Aurus’s deep voice strokes down my spine. “Come to me.”

I shudder, and move towards him. The arena spins around me. Too overcome to walk, I crawl, letting my spine undulate. I’m a siren, I’m a sphinx, I’m an animal whose substance is pure lust. Every movement screams seduction.

He meets me halfway, lifting me and carrying me to the platform where he sits with me in his lap. He pauses for a moment, nuzzling me. His large hands coast over my skin, checking me for marks.

“You are unhurt?”

“Mmmhmmm.” I rub my face against his. My tongue licks out to taste the salt on his flesh. I’m pushing against him and licking him like a cat, and the ache in my clit pulses in time with my movements.

“Good,” he murmurs.

Then he grabs me by the nape of my neck, and growls.

I convulse with a cry, climaxing in his arms. Slick pours from my center, soaking us both.

Another cry, another climax.

“You are very naughty, Omega. You need to be taught a lesson.” He rubs his cheek along mine. His teeth catch my earlobe, and nip. Hard.

More mini orgasms. “Yes, yes,” I chant.
