And he saw me.
Then an awful, gnarled noise escaped him and he ripped his hand away to cover his face. “You lied to me.”

I choked on a sob, tears burning my eyes, for him, for Nash.
For me.
I can’t lose him again.
But like everything that mattered most to me, it wasn’t my choice to make. Harsh seconds ticked by. Then Locke dropped his hands, his bloodshot stare distant and cold.
He walked out, and I’d never felt pain like it.
