Joss has no clue what I’m talking about, but I get the feeling he doesn’t give a shit, and it’s nice to be with someone who listens to me talk for no reason other than they want to. It’s been a while.
Longer than that.
“Anyway.” Joss lowers his arms and hooks me in with his gaze. “Did you like it?”
It’s a hell of a question, and I can’t believe he doesn’t know the answer. “You couldn’t tell?”
His grin morphs into a smirk, but again he seems to dilute his reaction, covering his mouth with his hand.
I knock it away. “Don’t hide.”
“I’m not. I’m repressing a fuckawful joke about prostate exams.”
“Oh.”
“I know. Don’t encourage me.”
“I’ll do my best. The answer is yes, by the way. I liked it.”
“How much?”
“How much?” I cock a brow.
Joss shrugs. “Yeah. I mean, I like egg sandwiches, but I wouldn’t want one on my face all the time.”
“You want me on your face all the time?”
“Veto.”
“Huh?”
Joss threads his arms across his chest. “I’m vetoing dangerous questions.”
“What’s dangerous about it?”
“Lots of things. We’re in your dad’s back garden for one. Second, I can live with my answers because I know who I am. You don’t need to hear them if kissing me has helped you figure out you’re someone else.”
He’s so damn matter of fact I almost want to scream. But his candor works. It leaves no room for bullshit or misunderstanding. He liked kissing me, but if I’ve decided dudes ain’t for me, he’s not gonna waste his time spelling it out.
Makes sense, I can admit. But it’s a moot point. I can’t speak for other dudes for sure, but he’s lit a fire in me I can’t deny. And I don’t want to deny it. So I don’t. I find the truth and let it fuckin’ fly. “I didn’t like it…I loved it, and I’ve thought about it every goddamn hour since it happened. Happy?”
The smirk is back, somehow pureandfilthy. Joss lets his arms drop. “I’ve thought about it a lot too.”
“For real?”
“For real. Which is mad considering how much else I have to think about. I usually forget I have a dick when I’m this busy.”
I should feel bad that I’ve distracted him.
Ishould.
I don’t, not for a hot second.
He knows it too, and he leans in again, close enough that I can smell the clean sweat we worked up on the way over here. “This was an experiment, right?”
His nearness makes me shiver. “Um. Right.”
“Science?”
