It’s been three weeks since the arrests and two of them have been charged, the other three have had their rich parents get them off. Guess the two scholarship kids are taking the fall. I’ll deal with them when the time comes but for now, Morris, the shitbag who laid his hands on Taylor is about to find out what happens when he messes with what’s mine.
Taylor has spent a lot of time over at my house. Oscar has taken to her like she’s his new best friend and she is good with him. With her help, we’re getting a better handle on the night terrors, which I spoke to a doctor about, and he confirmed Taylor’s advice.
They haven’t gone away, and the doctor wasn’t very reassuring when he said they can last a few years, but he did say it was nothing specific that causes them. He doesn’t know my fucking lifestyle, but he said night terrors are not the same as nightmares.
Mostly they’re unexplainable and go away on their own. The only time I need to be concerned is if they’re becoming more frequent and harder for him to come out of.
Jesse is coming around to the fact his nurse is in my bed at least three times a week. Mostly because when she is there, I’m there, so Oscar is seeing a lot more of me. He’s said for a while that is what we both need.
I’m getting attached and even though it scares the shit out of me for what it could mean to her, I can’t walk away. This woman has me in a chokehold.
And when we fuck, which we do a lot, it’s like I’m in goddamn heaven. I’ve never gone back to a woman as many times as I have to Taylor. Not only in bed, but talking, interacting, learning about her life, having her be a part of my son’s. It’s fucking insane, but I don’t want to lose it. Because I’m a selfish motherfucker.
Speedway hasn’t been able to track down Sheridan, which is worrying me. I’ve sent another brother down to Alexandria where she is supposed to be staying with a friend with him to track her down. Blaze confirmed her phone is switched off.
I’m not convinced this is Storm, he’s too lazy and wouldn’t follow her down there to get to me. He doesn’t know about her and Oscar, anyway.
We’ve been planning how to take down Morris when Ronin pops his head in after knocking and lets me know there is a woman in the bar asking for me. I pull out my phone and check it. There are a couple of messages from Taylor saying she needs to talk to me. She wouldn’t come here though.
“We grab him tomorrow,” I tell them. “Figure out where he’ll be and get the farm ready.”
They watch me walk out and I know exactly what they’re thinking but I don’t care. Taylor will get a lot of attention in the bar. The majority of my guys know not to mess around with women who are linked to anyone, but at the same time there is this fucking shitty rule that unless a woman is claimed, she’s free game.
Anyone fucking looks at her sideways, I’ll snap their necks.
She’s sitting at the bar talking to Raven when I come in through the back. Some of the brothers are looking her way but they’ve also made it clear they’re interested in Raven. Rebel is almost as bad as me when it comes to his sister, he’d cut off their balls before they got them anywhere near his sisters pussy.
Raven looks up as I move through the bar, her brow arched. Fuck, she saw me eating Taylor out on her bar that first time she showed up here.
There is something more to the look now, a shrewdness. Not in a bad way, in a way that tells me she is going to give me shit for having a woman come back for more.
“Hey,” I lean against the bar and Taylor turns to me. “What are you doing here?”
“I was at home and wanted to see you,” she shrugs. “Somewhere other than at your house.”
“Oh, girl,” Raven smirks. “Get it.”
“Stay out of this,” I tell her without taking my eyes off Taylor.
She laughs as she walks to the other end of the bar. There are eyes on us as I take a step closer to Taylor. She’s watching every move I make, as I study every nuance of her face. I’ve held off on this because I’m still in two minds about bringing her in.
What I am coming to realize is, she’s already in. I’m planning on killing the asshole who hurt her tomorrow night. She can never know about that but it’s getting harder to hide her away. It’s bad enough hiding Oscar from everyone.
I hear more people coming in through the back and know it has to be my officers. The other brothers use the front door. I feel their eyes on me, they’re waiting to see what I’m going to do. Rebel is the only who knows anything about her. Somehow the rest of them have got wind of it.
“Do you know what you’re doing?” I ask her. “What you’re getting into with me?”
“I’ve spent the last month and a half learning all about you, Noah,” she touches my cut. “Just not everything.”
“It’s different here.”
“You’ve told me that.”
“You’re feeling bold tonight.”
“Something like that” she looks over her shoulder and back at me. “They’re all watching.”
“That’s because no woman has ever made me walk out of a meeting when I hear she’s in the bar looking for me. Only women who get treatment like that are old ladies.”
