“Nothing for now, the boys will arrive at seven, and everything is ready.”
“You are fantastic,” he says taking me in his arms.
Evening falls and we turn on the lights, the music plays, Matt is grilling the meat and we are all reunited as a family. Kate brings me a margarita and I tell her no. We haven’t told everyone the news yet, but I’m not drinking.
Matt grabs a beer and gets everyone’s attention.
“Okay, guys. Having you here is really nice. This will probably be one of the last times we’ll be here though.”
“What do you mean?” Craig asks, and I also look at him surprised too.
“I was thinking of selling the house.”
“What? Why? It’s perfect.” Faith asks.
“It’s almost perfect. And we’ll need more space soon.”
“Bring a woman home and she’ll turn your life upside down!” Gabe says, unleashing our laughter.
“True!” Matt says and I pinch him. “But we need more space for the upcoming little West.”
The others look at us and when they understand what Matt has revealed, the emotion is overwhelming.
“Oh my God, are you pregnant?” Kate asks me and I nod. “And you, didn’t you tell me anything? What kind of friend are you?” She turns to Vanessa. “Oh come here honey! It means that not only will I have to handle your wardrobe but also him or hers.”
“God help me!” Matt complains laughing.
“You can laugh all you want, you’re on my list too.” Kate threatens him and I burst out laughing, Matt has no idea of the trouble he’s gotten himself into.
We sit on the porch swing while we watch others talk and relax.
“You didn’t tell me you wanted to sell the house.”
“I thought about it today. I think we will need more space. I saw some houses not far from here, maybe we can look at them.”
“Mmm, what if we go to live in Malibu?”
“In your parents’ house?”
“That’s my home, I had a wonderful childhood there.”
“I thought your penthouse was your home.”
“No, I use it when I’m work. Malibu is something special though.”
“Are you sure?”
I nod and he kisses me. I feel happy, but I’m still worried about Chris, he still not reachable.
“You’re having a party and you haven’t invited me, I’m disappointed!” Chris says joining us. I go to hug him.
“Where have you been?” I ask him
“Fixing a problem, nothing you need to worry about,” he answers me.
Vanessa comes to hug him too, it’s nice to see them together.
“So what did I miss?”
