"You can't, you have an interview tomorrow morning withHello New Yorkand then at four p.m. with Live on Washington, and another one on the local radio."
"But then I'm free right? I can go to LA and then come back for the concert."
"No, Matt, you won't be in time, in three days we'll be in LA and you'll have plenty of time until the concert."
"What time do I have the interview?"
"At ten a.m.," he answers, and I end the call. I look at my watch and see it is three a.m. Fuck!
"Let's go back to the hotel," I tell Ryan on leaving the airport. We get in the car, and I try to call her but it's her damned voicemail who answers. I call Chris and the phone rings, and it rings but he doesn't answer.
I try again many times but nothing, Chris doesn't pick up.
I just wish I was with her now, or at least heard her, so I could have explained what she saw was nothing. She's my everything. I take the box with the ring I bought out of my jacket and feel the tears falling down.
Chapter19
Angel
"Angel you have to eat, please," Chris begs me.
"I'm not hungry, please, I want to be alone."
My cell phone rings all the time and Chris's too. I know it's Matt calling me.
"He's been calling all night!"
"I do not want to talk to him."
"I know, Angel, but you have to face him."
"Sooner or later, I will."
"What if what we saw…"
"No, don't say that. Security is there on purpose to prevent people from entering the backstage. If she was there, it's because she was with him."
I get up and go to the beach. I need to be alone.
The phone rings again and I see Faith's number.
"Hi, Faith, what's up?."
"Please don't put it down, Matt is not to blame for what you've seen. The guards—"
"Faith I have to go, I'm sorry," I say ending the phone call.
The cell phone rings again, and again, and again.
I sit by the sea, hugging my knees.
"I knew you were here," Jake says sitting next to me. "What happened? Why are you hiding?"
"I want to be alone."
"Angel, you only come here when you want to escape the world. What happened, sis?"
"I'm pregnant, Jake," I say bursting into tears.
