"Why stop at just one?" he answers, making me laugh.
"It depends on if you’re good enough to ignite my curiosity and make me want to know you better."
"Oh, I know I already did."
"True, but the first impression can be like a mirage."
"A mirage with a pretty face."
I can't help but laugh. Apparently, Nate focuses on words.
"But this mirage can make you many promises."
"If the promises aren’t kept, they’re just words in the wind."
"I always keep my promises."
"We'll see," I say, teasing him.
"You're an interesting woman, Isabel. And I really wish..." Before he can finish, the steward stops next to us and Nate looks at him.
"Excuse me, sir, they want you on the phone." The steward interrupts us, apologizing for the disruption.
Nate stands and approaches my ear, whispering, "however in your dreams, we slept together, and you can't deny it." He kisses me on the forehead as he walks away.
Arrogant and conceited. Sexy and hot.God, I'm still shaking.
I still feel his lips on my forehead like he's here, like he's kissing me now. Something about him attracts me. It’s his confidence, his carefree attitude, like he’s free to behave as if he were God on earth, taking everything he wants, when he wants it.
And I would like to be taken by him.
After my last relationship, I’d decided to stay as far away from men as possible. They’re too jealous, immature, self-centered, and, often, boring. If they seem perfect, after a while it turns out that behind that perfection is a totally different person. Yet Nate seems different. I feel comfortable with him, which never happens. I feel safe, which intrigues me even more.
Calm your hormones and keep in mind your mistakes.
Nate never returns to his seat. When we get off the plane, I don’t see him, even though I look around me.
Chapter Six
Nate
Icouldn't talk to her anymore. My father couldn't have picked a worse time to call.
I manage to reach her at the airport. Unfortunately, she’s talking to a man, smiling as they walk toward the car.
She turns around for a moment, and I hope she does it to look for me.
What did you expect? Did you really think a girl like her would get close to someone like you?
I reach the exit too and see her as she gets into the car. She sees me and waves as a young man closes the door, staring at me.
I'm jealous. All the good girls are taken.
The driver whom Dad sent me has arrived too.
"Welcome home, Nathan."
"Thanks, Lewis. It's good to be home again."
