I smile, shaking my head. Reading novels made my imagination take over.
Two hours later, I get up to go to the toilet. When I return, the lights start to dim. I ask for two blankets, which the steward kindly brings me. Nate is sleeping soundly. He was indeed exhausted. I slowly cover him with the blanket, and then I cover myself too. I close my eyes and try to fall asleep.
Chapter Four
Nate
She was quiet and gentle, but not enough. I didn't want to embarrass her just yet. Although seeing her blush makes her even sexier, so I pretended to sleep. It was a nice gesture on Isabel’s part.
Isabel.
I love her name. I've always liked it. I had a friend named Isabel as a child. His parents and mine are still best friends. We grew up together. She was my best friend, my partner in crime to spite nanny Alice. After her mother died, everything changed, and soon she left. And since then, my life has been turned upside down. Little Izy complemented my days, making them unique and fun. But once she left, it was like Dad was trying to make me perfect. As if he didn't really care about me but, instead, cared about what people might think.
It was the period that most marked me. I learned what it really meant to be alone and I vowed to find my soul mate and finally be happy. Unfortunately, the years have passed and I’m still looking for her.
But little Izy will always have a special place in my heart. I'll have to ask Alice if she has any news from her, or maybe I could ask for a favor and do some research on her. It would be nice to see her again. We were kids, but the kindness and love I saw in her eyes still make me remember her today. Izy and nanny Alice were the only people who ever loved me. The only ones who made me feel loved and not like I was just an heir designated to do great things. Who knows what she's doing now? Who knows if still remembers me?
I open my eyes when the plane goes through a little turbulence.
Isabel has rested her head on my shoulder, and I know that when she wakes up, her neck will hurt. I raise the armrest between the two seats and let her rest with her head on my chest. When her hand and body rest on me, my heart starts beating. I hug her, breathing in her perfume.
She'll be so pissed off when she wakes up and finds herself in my arms.
And strangely, it makes me smile.
Chapter Five
Isabel
"Sunshine?" I hear someone say.
"Isabel, wake up!" A male voice is calling me. I open one eye. When I see him looking at me, smiling slyly, I close my eyes.
It can’t be true. How did I end up in his arms?
It's just a dream. Open your eyes, and you’ll see that he’s not there.
I open one eye, and he’s still there, smiling.
"Argh! This can't be true," I complain, triggering his laughter.
"Nothing happened, don't worry."
I get up slowly, and I know I'm blushing. I feel it.Did I snore? Talk in my sleep? Did I touch him?
Surely, I touched him if I was in his arms.
"You’re adorable when you blush, you know that?"
"Nate, please, I'm already mortified," I say, covering my face.
"Why's that?" he asks. "We haven't done anything wrong."
"I know that. It wasn't supposed to happen,"
"It wasn't a problem. In fact, I slept well,” he says, trying to remove my hands from my eyes. "I mean it, Isabel. I didn't even realize I had you in my arms until this morning."
"I don't know you, Nate, but now I know one thing about you."
