I get dressed too, and we go down to the kitchen. I prepare the coffee under his loving gaze.
The doorbell rings and my heart skips a beat. He goes to open the door. It’s Alex and CJ
"Good morning, Isabel," CJ greets me.
"Hello, guys. Would you like some coffee?"
"Yes, thanks,” they answer in unison.
"Always write to me,” Nate says. “Keep me updated on things at home and especially on what you decide about your job. I’ll answer you as soon as I have the opportunity."
"I will.”
"Time to leave. Thanks for the coffee, Isabel. We'll keep an eye on him."
"Thanks, guys. Come back soon."
They nod and walk out the door.
Nathan stops and hugs me. "You’re my universe, baby."
"And you’re my breath. Stay safe. I love you."
"I love you, sweetheart." As soon as he closes the door, the tears begin to fall.
Three months. Twelve weeks. They’ll fly by, Isabel. Keep busy and you’ll see that everything will be fine. You won't even notice it.
Chapter Twenty-Five
Isabel
Ihear the bell and open my eyes. I’d fallen asleep on the sofa. I go to the door and see Alice with two men.
"You could tell these thugs I'm not a thief."
"A thief? No guys, she's Alice, a friend of mine."
"I’m the Weister maid, so show respect, or I won't feed you."
I smile. Having her here with me means a lot. She was Nathan's nanny, and Alice was always lovely to me. She's part of the family.
"Sorry guys, but who are you?"
"We were assigned by your husband to watch you and the house."
"Okay, I don't know if Nathan told you that the annex is used for security. You have surveillance monitors there. You don't have to stay outside."
"Yes, madam, we know. Wherever you have to go, one of us will accompany you."
"Okay. I'll give you access to my plan today."
"Thanks."
I smile and go inside.
"I'm happy to have you here."
"Baby, but you cried," Alice says, hugging me
