Isabel

The lights of Paris are magical. Being here with Nathan is the icing on the cake.

Now or never, Isabel. Tell him!

"Nate...”

"Yes, baby?"

I have a lump in my throat, and I can't ask. I'm afraid. "How ... how do you imagine our married life?"

"Like now, I think. Why are you asking?"

"I was just curious. Many say that a lot of things change once one gets married. But in the end, we already live together. What could change?"

Please, say that maybe feelings can change. Maybe there’s a chance, however small it may be, that you’ll fall in love with me.

You're dreaming, Isabel. Get back to earth, or you'll burn your soul.

"I don't think anything will change, baby. We already have our life. A signed sheet is just a sheet."

"True."

The weekend flies by in the blink of an eye. Nathan is my true love, and my heart betrays me. I’m falling madly in love with him.

We’re back in London. We're getting married tomorrow. Tomorrow, everything will change. I can't sleep and be separated from him. This hotel room seems too big.

If you can’t say it, write it down. You’re good at writing. Put all your feelings on paper.

I finish writing the letter and fold it, sealing it. As soon as I find the courage, I’ll give it to him.

I fall asleep at 2 am. Four hours later, I’m already awake.

I get a message from Nate in the late morning:

'Can't wait to see you. I miss you.'

'A couple more hours, love. And I'll be yours. '

I will indeed be yours, soul, mind, and body, because I love you, Nathan.

* Bang, bang, bang *

"I’m coming!" I run out of the bathroom wrapped in a bathrobe. As soon as I open the door, Nate approaches me, kissing me, taking my breath away.

"Nate...”

"I couldn't wait, I'm sorry,” he says, looking into my eyes and kissing me again. "Isabel, I will...”

"What are you doing here? Go! You can't see the bride before the wedding," Alice says, pushing him away and closing the door. “Darling, the hairdresser will be here any minute. Go get dressed," she orders me as she goes out the door, shaking her head.

I go to my room to get dressed while I think back on Nate and his kiss.

Chapter Nineteen

Nate

"You, you shouldn't be here!"
