Anyone but you.

We look at each other for a few minutes. I’d like him to kiss me, but he doesn't.

We finish dinner and talk for a couple of hours.

"I'm going to take a shower and then sleep. Thanks for bringing me here."

"It was a pleasure,” he answers as I go upstairs.

Chapter Ten

Nate

She looks so strong, yet she’s so fragile. Seeing her open up to me was like conquering the world, but then she got sad and went upstairs.

I put the kettle on the fire and think back to our conversation.

When I got lost in the sea of her eyes, I wanted to kiss her.

You had to kiss her.

I hear her coming down the stairs as I make tea. When I turn around, I see her barefoot, with her hair still wet, not wearing make-up, in shorts and a tank top. I try to remain impassive, but God, she’s so sexy that it drives me crazy knowing I can't touch her.

"I made you tea."

"Thanks,” she says, taking the cup and sipping.

"I wrote my phone number here. If you need anything, call me."

"Call you? Why? Where are you going?"

"I'll take a hotel room."

"Why?"

"Because you have to rest and think."

"I know, but … we've already slept together. What difference does it make to sleep on the plane or in a bed?"

"Being alone with you," I say as I walk toward the door.

"Nate ... don't ... please stay here."

I turn and look into her eyes. “Are you sure?"

"Yes, I don't want to be alone tonight."

"You’ll never be alone," I say, hugging her.

I take a shower while she reads something on the computer. When I enter the room, her eyes caress my body.

Baby, if you keep looking at me like that, I'll have to make you scream my name.

I put on a t-shirt and lie down in bed.

She closes the laptop and lifts my arm, leaning on my chest.

"Just a minute, and then I'll let you sleep."
