That’s a red flag, and the bracelet is still very hot.

He doesn’t give me an answer, just takes off my tank top and starts kissing my skin as he undoes my jeans.

“Jeremy, wait...”

“Shhhh. You’re mine, and I want you now,” Jeremy says as he sinks into me. I scream as he bites my shoulder. I pray God to make him finish soon, as I feel like throwing up every time he touches me. And lately, he does it often.

I try my best to relax because I don’t want to have pain underneath for days. After he’s done using me, he kisses me softly and goes to take a shower. I continue to cook as if nothing has happened.

I’ve gotten really good at hiding emotions. To pretend and to lie. I’m not what I used to be. Only with Danny am I free to be me.

During dinner, Jeremy seems more relaxed, but something is bothering him.

“What’s going on? You seem nervous.”

“Because I am. On Tuesday, I have to go to Singapore for a week.”

My blood runs cold.

“Why do you have to leave? I have an ultrasound on Wednesday! I can’t leave!”

“Change the appointment, or stay at home. I’ll ask Danny to accompany you.”

“You can’t always bother him. I can go alone!” I pretend to be annoyed, but in reality, my heart is jumping for joy.

“You won’t go alone, and I’m sure Danny won’t mind. I know Drew will be leaving for a few days, and Danny won’t mind some company.”

“Ah…I didn’t know. Speaking of Drew, tomorrow we go shopping together. A day with girls, you know how it is: gossip, creams, and clothes.”

“Ha-ha, no problem, baby. After dinner, why don’t we start talking about some names? I’d like to choose one before the ultrasound.”

“Of course, I can’t wait.”

After hours of discussions, we agreed: Henry if it’s a boy and Danielle if it’s a girl. I’m not convinced about the girl’s name, but we’ll see.

I start to feel tired, and we decide to go to sleep.

I have a restless night, with pregnancy paranoia starting to emerge. But Zoë is my rock, and she makes me smile with her happiness.

“Good morning, baby girl. Shall we go to the beach?” I ask, knowing that she’ll be at the door before I even get out of bed.

The phone rings, and I look at the clock. It’s 7:15 am.

Who could it be? I look at the display, and I see the name “Ingrid.”

After our little argument, she has stayed away from me. She called Jeremy to find out how we were, and then never came back.

I decided to answer by getting out of bed.

“Good morning, Ingrid. How can I help you?”

“Hi, Hailey. I was wondering, will you be home this afternoon?”

“I think so. I’ll only be out this morning. Why?” I ask cautiously.

“Would you like to have tea with me? I wanted to talk to you, taking advantage of Jeremy’s absence,” she confesses.

She catches me off guard, and I don’t know how to answer. I really think we need to clarify. “Sure, I should be home around 2 pm. Come whenever you want.”
