“With all the fatigue from today, yes. Wait! “Istand by the window with the city lights shining behind me. Click and send.

“You are breathtaking... Your ex was a fool to let you go. I will have to thank him”

“Thank him for what? Logan, don't pretend to be a fool, you owe me at least one photo… as current as possible.”

“Thank him for leaving you free for me.”

I get two messages, including a photo. Logan is wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Green eyes, a bright and confident smile, brown hair cut short enough, so I assume it is a photo from when he was on leave. The muscles that don’t pass unnoticed either. Pfff, too good to be true, come on.

“Logan, come on, who are you trying to deceive?! Do you really think it was born yesterday? The picture looks like it came out of a magazine. But it is a nice subject. Congratulations on your choice. And then… sorry, left me free for you? Do you really think you will have the patience to know me?”

“I do”a simple, clear and direct answer. Followed by a picture of him. He is in front of a mirror, wearing only a pair of shorts. Same subject, same eyes and wonderful dimples that accompany that smile. The muscles are not only on the arms but everywhere. A sculpted physique, not so dry and quite tanned.

“I love your dimples.”

“Only the dimples?? I love your lips. “

“Dear Logan, the smile and dimples remain forever, the body changes with the years.”

“Even the lips remain forever... and will you be there to look at my dimples forever?”

“Who knows...?”

“It's not a no. I'm happy for now. I want to know more about you, Kate.”

“No, it's not a no. There is not much to know about me. I have a degree in languages, finance and psychology, almost. I only have 2 exams left. I have a job that I love and that I'll tell you about later. I have a brother and a Rottweiller named Willie. I live in Italy but I’ll move to the States soon. What about you?”

“Three degrees? Whoa, congratulations. I was born in Denmark and then my parents moved to Chicago. After graduation, I enrolled and I’m still in the army. Sooner or later I will return to civilian life, perhaps, you know, I have always dreamed of a big house with a white picket fence, a wife and many children. I would like to make it one day.”

“The classic American dream.”

“Yes, as they say... you told me that you will tell me about your work later. It’s promising, it means you want to hear from me again. “

“You are a tidbit, I would be crazy not to want to hear from you again. But between the time difference and work, it will be a little tough. I'm not always active on Facebook.”

“You made me laugh, I have tears in my eyes I swear. Nobody called me a tidbit before. One of the reasons why I wanted to ask you for the number is just that.”

“Logan, you're asking me a lot.”

“I am still not able to ask you for a date, but I would really like to continue to hear from you, Kate.”

“I am one of those people who trust their instincts.”

“And what does your instinct tell you now?”

“Besides going to sleep? To trust you... I hope I'm not wrong...”I reply and I send him my number.

Here, I did it. An absurd madness. But I guess I can always block the number if needed.

“Hmmm, do I have to believe it? Or are you giving me someone else's number?”

“No, Logan, trust me and save it before I get a chance to have second thoughts.”

“Ok, I’ll let you go to sleep now. Hope to hear from you soon. Goodnight, Kate.”

“Thanks, tomorrow will be a chaotic day, but I promise to check the phone every now and then in case you text me. Goodnight, Logan”
