I shrug while Logan was staring at me“Don't ask.”
I take Max's phone call.
“Hey, Max, I've been waiting for your news for days now, how are you?”Silence.
“Max? Max can you hear me?”
“Kate…..9……1 ... you ... Email… safe.”I don't understand everything but I understand that something was so damn wrong.
“Max, can you hear me? Where are you?” I hurry to the computer and check the emails in my mailbox. Nothing. In the work inbox. Nothing. I open the mailbox that we use only if we are in extreme danger and I find the Max’s email.
I think I turned white because I heard Logan calling me several times.
“Kate, are you okay? Who is Max? Kate? Honey, breathe for God’s sake, recover. KATE!”
Hearing him scream brings me back to reality and I think I have tears in my eyes.
“Sorry Logan, I… I….”And I hit the emergency button. In 5 seconds, my team is on my office together with Alec.
“What happened?”
“Ready to leave in 30 minutes, Max is in trouble, trace the call, and analyze the email and…”I turn to the screen since everyone is staring at Logan. Shit!
“Logan, they are my boss Alec and my whole team. We will make the presentations later, I have to hang up, sorry.”
“Sure, baby, if I can do something tell me. Please keep me update.”
I smile and nod.

feel their eyes on me.
“Logan is not a topic of discussion, not now. Let's focus on Max. I heard almost nothing on the phone, why in the hell!!! He told me to look at the email and here it is. I thought he was in Afghanistan, what the hell is he doing in Syria? I need all the information you can find, guys. I want all. Now!!!!” I shout.“Alec, I need…”and I look at him. The boys are already gone.
“You need the necessary authorizations, the flight plans as well as a cargo. Don't worry, everything will be fine, Kate, be strong and focused. I'm going to prepare everything.”
Once I got changed, I took the phones and on my way to the hallway, I read a message from Logan.
“Seeing you turn pale was worse than a stab, I hope everything is ok. It doesn't scare me who you are, Kate, I'm proud of it. Be careful wherever you go and text me as soon as you can, no matter the time. Text me just to let me know you're okay.”
I call general Williams, he answers at first ring, having his private number has its advantages.
“Miller, I was just talking about you. I have sent you all the details of Anderson's latest operations. Do you need anything else?”
