Though I had wanted my bloodline to die with me, I was happy about the baby. The only time I hated the idea was when I imagined my kid becoming my weakness, like Nova and the girls were weaknesses for Exile.
Once my enemies found out about Elle and the baby, my bad deeds could come due. People who didn’t have the balls to hit me straight on could come after my kid and his mom.
“Don’t cry, lover,” Elle whispered after Sutter headed into the house with Ford. “You got what you wanted.”
“Did I?” I grumbled.
“Oh, no, you’re having feelings,” Elle cooed and hugged me. “Poor emotional son of a bitch.”
I wanted to shove her away and ride off. Our relationship would put a target on Elle, my kid, and her family. The old me would make the smart choice and stick Elle in my rearview.
Except the old me also liked to indulge my desires, and I wanted this particular woman. Hooking up with a dozen hot blondes wasn’t enough to keep my mind off this one goofy biker chick consoling me in her half-serious, half-taunting way.
ELLE
Zodiac acted completely chill as he entered the house with his red overnight duffel bag. He wore a cocky grin and walked with his natural swagger. Despite how casual he behaved, I sensed something was bothering him.
Sutter led the way through the kitchen to the open staircase leading down to the basement. Hobbs acted as if he might follow after us, but the lazy Chihuahua decided to keep lounging by the upstairs windows.
Newton lifted his head when he saw us coming down the stairs. As soon as he spotted Zodiac, the cat took off for Sutter’s room.
My parents designed their dream home with plenty of bedrooms, upstairs and downstairs. Originally, they had my uncles in mind. Donnie and Devin lived in Little Rock but often visited. The basement was designed for them with a living room and kitchenette. Once Sutter came along, I moved down here.
“Where will my boy sleep?” Zodiac asked as if distrustful.
“Wilbur will be in my room at first,” I said and smiled at Sutter, who heard Zodiac’s weird tone. “I’m on this end,” I said and gestured toward my bedroom. “Sutter mostly stayed with me until he was around two and got his big kid bed. Next to his current room is where my uncle Devin sleeps when he visits. That’ll be Wilbur’s space.”
Zodiac followed me to the simple bedroom. He opened the closet and looked around like he wasn’t happy about the situation.
I subtly gestured for Sutter to let Zodiac and me talk alone. Once my boy was upstairs, I joined Zodiac at the closet door.
“Are you rethinking sleeping over?” I asked and patted his ass. “Or is this bad attitude a sign that you’re getting clingy?”
Zodiac narrowed his eyes, clearly trying to intimidate me. I smiled up at him and thought back to his sleepy eyes when he first woke up.
Still grinning, I admitted, “I was so relieved when Sutter looked like my family. His dad could have been funky-looking. For this boy, I hope he looks like you.”
“Stop kissing my ass.”
Zodiac’s tone felt threatening. A smart move would be to back off. Maybe my battered pussy had derailed my common sense, but I moved closer.
“This family stuff makes you uneasy. But you need to know where your boy will rest his head. Plus, you want to fuck me again tonight.”
“All true.”
“I think you also like spending time with my dad. He’s an old school hardass like you. I think he’s curious about you since you think big like Clint does.”
“Don’t coddle me.”
“I’m pointing out what you already know,” I said and smacked his ass. “But you’re feeling hormonal right now, which has got you acting like a goofy broad.”
I headed out of the room before Zodiac could snarl at me. He still managed to grab me around the waist and yank me back against his hard body.
“I don’t want a mother.”
“Good because I’m not looking to raise a grown ass man,” I said and smiled at him over my shoulder. “Plus, fucking my quasi-kid is nasty. So, stop talking about me like I’m a mother figure.”
Zodiac thrusted his groin against my ass. One hand cupped my tit while his other stroked my belly.
