Tick . . . tock.
He heard a low rumble of a voice he once used to know.
Tick . . . tock.
Chapter 35
Shadow
My time has run out.
Chapter 36
Eros
Compel her to execute the act of sbennymi.
Compel her to execute the act of sbennymi.
Compel her to execute the act of sbennymi.
His thoughts repeated relentlessly, pushing him toward the act of murdering Hera as it finally settled within him.
“Enact the act of sbennymi, Hera,” he finally demanded.
Once Eros spoke those words, hefelt Shadow fuse back into the depths of his soul. After three centuries of separation, he was once again reunited with the missing part of his being, as all of his sorrow, his anguish, and his destructive behavior had returned to live within him.
Hera’s eyes grew wider, a clear sign she was about to weep, and the tears began to flow down her face like streams, mirroring her sorrow and the remorse of being unable to say a final farewell.
Her lips pursed as she fought against the influence of his spell. Yet she knew all too well it was impossible to fight it.
Eros circled around her like a lion stuck with his prey in a cage. “I must admit, Hera, that I was never fond of you. Nevertheless, your demise did not capture my interest,” hestated, his voice lowering as he leaned down to be closer to her face. “Until now.”
“Please,” she begged through tears, closing her eyes as if she was desperate to avoid his fiery gaze.
“I cannot lie, it is quite a rare sight to hear you uttering such a word,” he continued, his voice a low rumble as his breath hit her face.
Her nails sunk into her rib cage, ripping her flesh as she let out a piercing scream loud enough to fill even the depths of her palace. As the muscles in her body grew rigid and tears relentlessly streamed down her cheeks, her shoulders instinctively slumped, as if attempting to ease the crippling ache she felt. She collapsed on the floor as her fingers continued to search for her heart, eager to fulfill the request they had been given.
“I am not responsible for your bonded’s disappearance, Eros. Do not . . . do something you will come to regret,” she screamed as her body’s uncontrollable trembling gave away her failed attempts to fight Eros’s crown of manipulation.
Her movements halted as Eros contemplated her words.
“You are correct. Unless you divulge Charisma’s location, I have no reason to spare your life.” Eros drummed his fingers on the side of his waist, waiting.
“I do not possess such information?—”
“Therefore, you shall proceed. I want to see your heart out of your chest.”
Chapter 37
Charisma
“Their magic lives within her,” the white-haired woman said at the crack of dawn, her hand cold as ice, settling on my chest. She glanced at Zeus, who observed us silently. “I believe that this is the information you asked of me, my King.”
I blinked, still unsure of who this woman was or what the purpose of her presence was.
“Yes, Lunara.” His steps inched closer, hands tucked behind his back. “Kill her. Ensure a painless death.”
