Page 4 of Ours for Tonight

Suddenly, the clown is jerked backwards and has no other option but to let go of me. He falls to the ground and two men stand over him, filling up the space between us.

“She said to leave her alone. Do you not know what that means, or do you need us to teach you? Next time a lady tells you to stop, you fucking stop.”

The crowd around us has stopped dancing, and everyone is facing us, waiting for the fight to start. I can feel my heart hammering in my chest and the only thing I can hear is the song booming from the speakers from around the room.

If it wasn’t for them, I have no clue where that situation would have gone.

The clown stands up and scurries away, quickly muttering curses under his breath at the men standing in front of me. With him gone, they finally both turn and look at me and once again my entire body freezes.

They are both at least six feet tall with large muscular frames. They both have their faces painted, one like a skull and the other as a ghost. They are dressed in tight black clothes showing off their muscles.

“Thank you,” I rush out, hoping to not be on the receiving end of whatever just happened. I feel my body shaking and I must look like a mess right now. They both step towards me and my heart rate picks up again. I can feel the thump-thump beating against my rib cage at their presence.

“Are you here alone tonight, little rabbit?” One of them asks.

I nod my head before asking, “Do I know you?” I don’t think any normal person would step in to save a stranger.

“What’s the fun in knowing who we are?” Ghost asks.

“Okay then, I guess I should head back over towards the bar,” I say. I’m not sure what to do at this point. They stepped in and saved me. I don’t expect anything more than that.

“Come with us, little rabbit,” Skull says and they both reach out and grab my hands, leading me toward the exit. A warm fuzzy feeling washes over my body at their touch.

Once we get within sight of the door, it swings open and I pause as a couple walks into the building. Not just any couple, either. It’s Jacob and Amelia in the couple's costume I bought last week for us. I didn’t think this night could get any worse, but boy, was I wrong.

“You have to be joking.” I spit out.

The guys come to a halt with me. Skull brings his hand up to my neck and wraps his fingers firmly around it. “They showed up like that to piss you off. Do not give them the reaction they want from you.”

His words catch me off guard. How does he know who they are and why would he know they are here for me? I make eye contact with him and nod my head. He lowers his hand back down to my hand and pulls me past them and straight outside, the door slams behind us, sounding final.

I don’t know how I got myself into the situation of being alone with these two men. Two strangers who seem to know details about me and my life, but here I am.

They pull me to the front of the building, away from the door, and drop my hands. Skull reaches towards me and inspects my arms where the clown grabbed me. “Areyou okay?” His voice comes out gruff and it immediately makes my legs go weak.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” I say in nearly a whisper. He’s so close to me now I can smell the cologne he’s wearing, and it automatically makes him ten times hotter.

“I should have killed him for the way he touched you. No one but us has the right to touch you like that,” Ghost says.

“What do you guys want from me?” I ask, the alcohol loosening my tongue.

“Silly rabbit. We want what everyone else at this party couldn’t stop looking at.” They both step close to me, pushing me between their bodies and the wall. I feel so exposed as they stand over me, looking down.

“We want you, Aria,” Skull says.

"First, how do you know my name? Second, how do I know I can trust you? For all I know you are some crazy axe murderers just trying to get me away from the crowd." I question.

"Everyone who has been in your shop knows your name. Also, if we wanted to hurt you, do you really think we would have saved you from the handsy clown? Why not just let him have his way with you instead of stepping in?" Ghost looks at me with one brow raised.

That makes sense. I normally wear a name tag when working in the store so that if customers need help, they know how to address me. Yes, I came out tonight hoping to meet someone, but if you had asked me a few hours ago, I never thought I would meet two men who look like this and want me. I glance between both of them, weighing my options because we can’t go back to my house tonight. I gave Jacob until morning to get his shit out. This might be a really bad decision, but tonight I can be whoever the fuck I want to be. I think for once in my life, it’s time for me to be carefree and reckless.

“Where are we going to go?” I ask.

“We know exactly where we want to take you.” Ghost says as he leans down to whisper in my ear, running his lips along my exposed neck afterwards.

I don’t know what I just agreed to, but my night might have turned from a trick to a treat really fast.
