FromSkating Spins & Turns, six and a half years ago:
Pairs champion Natasha “Tasha” Ramson suffered a serious injury during practice. No details have been provided as to what happened, but her longtime partner, Drew Maddox, asked people to send thoughts and prayers for her recovery with the Skate America competition coming up shortly, and he would be sure to make sure she didn’t make any evening visits to the hotel bar. We are waiting for a response from Tasha and will update this story as soon as we can.
FromSkating Spins & Turns, six years ago:
Pairs skater Drew Maddox has a new partner, rising star Kami Procter.
No word on who Tasha Ramson, his former partner, will be pairing up with. Maddox wishes her well and hopes she finds a strong partner who can better handle growth, both in height and weight. We reached out to Tasha for a statement but did not receive a reply from the skater or her representative.
FromSkating Spins & Turns, five years ago:
Drew Maddox and Kami Proctor have struggled to mesh their styles. Could new partners be on the horizon for both?
Maddox’s former partner, Tasha Ramson stood on the podium at her first regional event as a solo skater. Maddox mentioned rumors about elevated scores because of Tasha’s mother, Yelena, who is a gold medalist and an influential figure in the skating world. We reached out to the Ramson camp for a statement but did not receive a reply.
FromSkating Spins & Turns, four years ago:
Drew Maddox and his new partner, Lisbeth Holden, placed a disappointing sixth at Nationals, but that is a better showing than he had with Kami Proctor, who has retired from the sport.
Tasha Ramson continues to find success as a single skater. But Maddox addressed concerns about Tasha’s weight loss. He hopes it isn’t like the eating disorder she was prone to as a teenager. We reached out to Tasha for a statement but did not receive a reply from the skater or her representative.
FromSkating Spins & Turns, three years ago:
Drew Maddox and Lisbeth Holden placed fourth and failed to qualify for the pairs competition at the Winter Games.
US women’s champion, Tasha Ramson, came home with two bronze medals from the team event and singles. She then went on to win the World Championships. Her former partner, Drew Maddox, can’t believe the improvement in her skating and if he didn’t know better, he’d think she was taking PEDs. We reached out to the skating committee and all of none of Tasha’s drug tests show any trace of performance enhancing drugs. There was no comment from Tasha or her representative when we asked for a statement.
FromSkating Spins & Turns, two years ago:
The new pair team to watch this season is Drew Maddox and Savannah Savoy, the only daughter of tech billionaire, Samson Savoy, and his supermodel wife, Siena. We wish them well and hope Maddox can finally find the pair magic he once had with Tasha Ramson.
Speaking of Tasha… She retired after an Ice of Stars Tour and hasn’t been heard from sense. Maddox asked that people pray for his partner, who may or may not have a substance abuse problem and be in rehab. No statement was given by Tasha or her representatives when asked about her current situation or whereabouts.
FromSkating Spins & Turns, one years ago:
Pairs figure skaters Savannah Savoy and Drew Maddox won the national title and will compete at the world championships for the US.
FromSkating Spins & Turns, three months ago:
Several top skaters, including pairs champions Savannah Savoy and Drew Maddox, who are set to married in an elaborate wedding next spring, will perform in the Nutcracker Holiday Ice show that will make stops in ten cities, starting in November and through mid-December. Winter Games bronze medalist, Tasha Ramson will be an assistant choreographer. Are we the only ones who hope she’ll skate in the show?
FromSkating Spins & Turns, one month ago:
Rehearsals for the first Nutcracker Holiday Ice show in Seattle have begun, but Tasha Ramson was let go as the assistant choreographer after an unknown skater claimed their routine was dangerous and would lead to injury. Drew Maddox asked people to pray that his troubled former pairs partner finds the helps she needs. No statement from Tasha or her representatives was given.
CHAPTER ONE
December used to be Natasha, aka Tasha, Ramson’s favorite time of the year. No longer. The month had barely started but was already turning out to be the worst of her life. And the saddest part? She could do nothing to fix it.
Absolutely nothing.
Tasha stood outside the front door to the Wishing Bay Ice Rink. Her weight shifted between her feet. Right, left, repeat. Except this wasn’t one of the figure-skating programs she’d choreographed for one of the rink’s skaters. Though if it were, she would call the routineImpatience. Not the catchiest title, but all she wanted to do was return inside. Only a few hours remained until the doors closed forever.
A shiver ran through her. A shiver that had nothing to do with the cold temperature in the rink or the slightly warmer one outside. A shiver that had become as familiar as her shadow since hearing her parents had sold the rink.
