“TJ and JJ obviously have an underlying issue?—”
“And that shit doesn’t have a damn thing to do with you!” She gave me a knowing look as she walked over to the door and flipped the closed sign to open. “There’s nothing wrong with having friends and getting to know someone. You might even decide to give that man some coochie.”
I groaned as she talked about auctioning my pussy away. I knew she meant well and wanted me to have fun, but I was tired of my sexual inexperience always being the topic of everyone’s conversation. As I stood from her desk to gather my things, my head snapped toward the sound of the bell chiming from the opening door.
“Good morning, and welcome to Grove’s Luxury Realty,” Stacy said through a bright smile. I smiled at my crazy-ass friend being professional after she was just speaking on my sex life moments ago. “How can I help you?”
“Hello. I wanted to have a word with Blossom, if that’s possible.”
Glancing over my shoulder, I locked eyes with the new customer and then my best friend. Both stood by the door as if they were waiting for something. Stacy’s nice demeanor hardened in an instant, a reaction she often had after getting a read on people.
“Hi, I’m Blossom.” I smiled softly. I walked over and extended my hand, which she accepted and shook. “What can Ido for you? Do you have an appointment, or would you like to make one?”
Looking from me to Stacy, she gripped her purse as she gulped loudly. Dressed in an oversized sweater, jeans, and mid-calf boots, she was put together nicely and really pretty in the face. Her nose was so red from the cold weather that it was comical. I could tell she was nervous, but I couldn’t imagine what about.
“No, I want to speak to you about TJ… He and I have been dating and?—”
My friendliness went out the window in an instant, but Stacy beat me to the punch by responding first, cutting her off.
“Man, I know damn well you didn’t come here to have a woman-to-woman conversation.” Stacy scowled as she switched back over and locked the door. “You’re about to get your ass worn the fuck out today!”
“Stacy…” I chuckled, stepping between them to stop my best friend as she kicked off her heels. “We’re not doing that.”
Nodding toward the girl, I gave her a tight-lipped smile. I could see she was nervous, but she didn’t have to be. I was not fighting any woman over TJ’s trifling ass.
“What’s your name?” I asked.
“L-Lisa.”
“Come into my office and let’s have a word, Lisa.” I spun around, leaving it up to her to follow me or not. “This won’t take long, Stacy.”
Hearing her soft steps behind me, I took a deep breath as I stepped into my office. Once she was inside, I took in how nervous she looked as she glanced around my office, jumping once I closed the door behind us.
“There is no need for you to be nervous, love.” I smirked at her, but my eyes held the seriousness of her visiting me. Sitting behind my desk, I motioned for her to sit. “You weren’t nervouswhen you came into my office letting me know you’ve been sleeping with my man.”
“You’re right.” She nodded, clutching the straps of her purse. “I didn’t come here to start trouble. I came here to let you know I love him. TJ and I have been sleeping together for almost three years now.”
“So you’ve known about me this entire time?” I asked coolly. I wouldn’t show my hand, but my feelings were certainly hurt. “You know we’re engaged? How do I know you’re not lying?”
While I asked the question, I wasn’t naive enough to think she was just coming here to pull accusations out of her ass. My feelings were hurt regardless of whether I wanted to end things with TJ or not. No one wants to hear that the man they once thought they were spending their life with had been living a double life behind their back.
“I just AirDropped some photos to you. The proof is there.”
Picking up my phone, my heart plummeted when I swiped picture after picture of them together like a happy couple.
“We were just together the night of the gala. He was pissed about Rowan telling his business.”
“You were there?” I asked as I peered up at her. “At the gala?”
“No, I heard about it all night from him and a friend of mine who was there. Listen, I don’t want to start any drama…” She got teary-eyed as she spoke. It was clear that she cared for him. “You may not remember, but that day at the nail shop, you told me my decisions have to be onesI can live with, not the ones around me. Well, I chose him. I want him. I love him.”
“Baby, you canhavehim.” I smiled, standing from my desk. “I remember you now. I remember the way you looked at him.” I walked from around my desk, and her eyes followed me. “I thought you were transfixed on him because of how he was with me and my mother. Not because you were watching the man you love be attentive to someone else.” Reaching the door, I held itopen for her. “TJ is all yours, sweetheart. I wish you both the life you deserve.”
“T-That’s it?” she asked skeptically, walking toward the door. “That’s all you have to say?”
Grinning widely, I nodded. “Absolutely. Have a good day. And let your man know he can stop calling my phone. There’s nothing else to discuss.”
Staring at me for a few moments, she dropped her shoulders and walked out of my office. I wasn’t the type to go back and forth with anyone, especially not over a man who was no longer mine. I wasn’t sure what she expected to get out of her visit, but she had my best wishes.
