Hearing soft giggles from behind me, I stood to my full height and locked eyes with the tiniest woman I’d ever seen—little Miss Blossom. Maybe not the tiniest, but compared to my frame, she was small as shit. Dressed in a pink pantsuit that showcased her slight curves, little mama was nicer up close. It was her eyes that had me in a trance. They were beautiful, but not only that, they seemed a little fearful.

“You said something?” I stuffed my hands in the pockets of my slacks and eyed her. “I didn’t catch that.”

“Huh? Oh, no, I’m sorry.” Her eyes went wide before dropping them. “It was rude of me to laugh. I don’t want to make it seem as if I were listening to your conversation.”

Squinting my eyes at her, I could tell she was awkward. She was pretty as shit up close, but it was something about her eyes that made me want to have them on me and no one else. I didn’t know much about this woman outside of my need to possibly kill her, but I wasn’t going for that shy shit.

“Hold your head up, beautiful.” I placed my finger under her chin, bringing her eyes back to me. “There’s only one time you should ever bow in my presence.”

“W-What? B-Bow?” My eyes darted to her perfect lips as she panted. “When would I ever bow to you?”

Scanning her body, I caught the moment her nipples tightened under her thin jacket. Sweat formed above her brow, and I could see her pulse beating rapidly through her neck. Shorty was turned on.

“In due time.” I winked before giving my attention back to Scotlyn, who was watching our every move. “Let me get a large coffee, four sugars, and no cream.” Glancing over my shoulder, shorty’s eyes were still on me. “The cream I want will come straight from the source.”

Hearing her gasp, I chuckled to myself as Scotlyn started making my cup of coffee. Checking my phone, I groaned as I noticed a missed call from Dr. Massey. Dialing him back, I stepped away from the counter so I wouldn’t hold up the line. No one was in here but us three, but I still didn’t want to be rude.

“Good morning, McKnight,” he greeted, sounding like he had just woken up. “I hope I didn’t bother you.”

“Would you give a damn if you did?” Glancing down at my watch, I’d been in here longer than I needed to be. “Why are you calling me on your day off? I could have sworn I told you not to hit my line.”

Dr. Massey and I had been working together since I took the job to work under him, and I had grown fond of the old man. There weren’t many people in this world whom I could tolerate, but he somehow made the cut.

“I was getting up for my morning coffee, and I knew you were doing the same.” He yawned before moving around. “I wanted to remind you to be nice when you go to the station. Hines made a complaint about you the last time you were there. I want you to go in, drop the report off, and then get the hell out of there.”

Before I could respond, Scotlyn was waving me over to get my order. Placing the phone between my ear and my shoulder, I went into my pocket and pulled out a couple of bills. My drink wasn’t nearly that much, but I was in a good mood today. Taking my cup from her, I placed a hundred-dollar bill in her tip jar and handed her the other.

“Her shit is on me today, and you keep the change.” Turning toward the beauty, I couldn’t help but lick my lips as I looked her over one last time. Stepping to her, she craned her neck as she brought her eyes to mine. “I’ll see you later.”

“I’m engaged,” she spoke as her chest rose and fell at a steady pace.

“The fuck does that gotta do with me?” I simpered.

Placing my finger against her exposed chest, I traced the outline of the top of her breast and was amazed at the goosebumps that appeared on her soft skin. For someone who was engaged, she sure was responsive, and I’d be damn if my body wasn’t responding too.

“If I want you, it ain’t shit that nigga can do but stand down or lay down.” Reaching her slender neck, I gripped it with just enough pressure to make her whimper. “That nigga ain’t fucking you right.” Bending down until I reached her lips, I could feel her minty breath against mine. As tempted as I was to see if they tasted the same, I’d never put my mouth on these bitches. “You might be engaged, but from the smell of that sweet pussy of yours, I know who ain’t.”

Eyeing me with lust and a little bit of fear, my thumb traced her bottom lip before I let her go. Stepping back, I watched her as she watched me adjust my dick that was hard enough to bust concrete. I said nothing else as I strode back outside into the morning air. The coughing in my ear reminded me I was still on the phone with Massey.

“Well, that was interesting.” He chuckled uncomfortably. “You’re a bold one.”

“Real niggas do real shit.” I shrugged as I got into my blacked-out Suburban. Knowing Dr. Massey the way I did, I knew he was beet red. “Ain’t nobody gone fuck with me.”

Pulling away from Grove’s Café, I listened to the doctor make small talk as I drove the short distance to the precinct. As badly as I wanted to tell his old ass to get off my line, I knew he was doing it to settle my mood. I hated going to the station and dealing with those fuck-ass officers. As the deputy medical examiner, I knew that it was in my job description to play nice, but that didn’t mean I respected those hoe-ass niggas. Letting him know that I didn’t need him to hold my dick, I told him I would talk to him when he came back to work in two days.I knew that was a lie, and unless I blocked him, he would be calling me again in thirty minutes to make sure they hadn’t locked my ass up.

“Good morning, Doctor!” Steph, the desk officer, greeted me as soon as I walked in. “You look handsome this morning.”

“Tell me something I don’t know.” I grinned as I approached the desk. “Is Captain Young in?”

Leaning forward in her seat, she placed her hand under her chin and eyed me like I was on the menu of her favorite buffet. Not to sound like a cocky nigga, but I knew I was really like that. Standing at six-foot-six, Jax and I were the tallest and most muscular in our family. When my brother started training during college to prep for the league, I was right by his side for motivation, and the shit just stuck with me. One thing I didn’t play about was my hygiene and appearance, so Baccarat, a fresh fade, and a lineup had women foaming at the mouth everywhere I went.

“Dammit, Stephanie!” She jumped at the sound of her colleague’s voice. “You don’t hear the phones ringing?”

I said nothing as I turned and met the glare of my cousin, Detective Tyreek Hines Jr. There had been animosity toward me from his end for our entire lives. I saidhisend because I didn’t give a fuck about him. His hate for me stemmed from his dead-ass father’s beef with mine. This nigga was the definition of being a bitch with a badge. The man hated my guts, and if he wasn’t careful, his were going to be splattered all over this muthafuckin’ station.

“Get your panties out of your ass and stop acting like a bitch.” I crossed my arms and mugged him with the documents for the captain tucked under my arm. “You don’t have to talk to that girl like that, but I expect nothing less from a hoe-ass nigga like you.”

I smirked before adjusting my stance to look him up and down. By now, we’d garnered the attention of everyone at the front of the station since his bitch ass wanted to yell.
