Walker bent over and kissed my forehead. “Anything for you, Adds. I’ve got my guesthouse all set up for you too.”
My younger sister, Ava, spoke up. “I scheduled the movers to ship everything to Walk’s house on Thursday morning, so you just need to get on your flight Thursday night, and all should be taken care of. West is going to drive your car back to Texas tomorrow.”
I laughed. “The James siblings could rule the world.” I looked over at my parents, who were sitting on the couch in my hospital room. “Seriously, thank y'all for being here for me and helping me get back home. As you all know, I’ve had quite the last month here in Boston, and I am ready to go home.”
My mom and dad stood up and smiled. My mom grabbed my hand. “And we are so ready for you to finally be back home after all these years.”
I boarded my flight back home to Texas and settled into my comfy, spacious first-class seat that Walker insisted on buying me. My collarbone was healing nicely, according to the doctors in Boston, but I would follow up with my doctor at home in a couple of weeks to see when I could ride again. Harper was a godsend in helping me pack up my apartment. With this injury, it would have taken me a lot longer. And my siblings did what they do best and took care of everything else to get me home. I was about to turn my phone on airplane mode forthe flight when it vibrated several times. I saw that our James sibling group chat was blowing up.
Ava:
Safe flight, Adds!! I’ll be at the airport to pick you up, and we will head to Mom and Dad’s for dinner.
Walker:
What is Mom making for dinner?
Ava:
Lasagna
Walker:
Goddamn it! I thought I told Mom only to make that when I’m around. I won’t be back home for another month or so, depending on how we do in the playoffs.
Weston:
We don’t all cater to you and your baseball schedule, dickhead.
Ava:
Calm down, both of you. Walk, she can make it again, and, West, be nice.
Walker:
Yeah, West, be nice…dickhead.
About to take off. See y'all soon! Thanks for the first-class ticket, Walk! Love you!!
Ava:
Love you! Enjoy the finer things in life!
Walker:
Love ya, sis. Safe flight.
Weston:
See you when you get here.
I laughed to myself because West was always so stoic and such a grump. As I was putting my phone in my bag, it vibrated again. I expected to see one last comment on the sibling thread, but instead it was Noah.
Noah:
I missyou.
Ignoring him, I shut off my phone, laid my head back, and enjoyed my flight back home. I wanted to leave Noah behind in Boston.
