Addison:
Hey, do you and Archer want to grab a drink at my parents’ winery tonight? The least I could do is give y'all some drinks and food to thank you for everything you did for Cash.
And here I thought you wanted to thank me for all the orgasms I gave you last night.
Addison:
That too.
Sounds fun. I’ve been meaning to check it out. What time do you want us to meet you there?
Addison:
8 p.m.? The winery will be closed, so we’ll have the place to ourselves.
Sounds good. See you then.
I stuck my phone back in my pocket and looked up at Archer. “Speaking of Addison, she wants us to go over to her parents’ winery for a drink tonight. You in?”
Archer laughed and sat down next to me. “Always. I need to get to know the girl that’s captured my big brother’s heart, don’t I?” He placed both hands on my shoulders and squeezed them hard.
I pushed him off and punched him in the arm. “Oh, shut the fuck up.”
He barked out a laugh and rubbed his arm. “Nah, I’m serious. I’m happy for you, brother. You haven’t let your guard down with a woman since Margot, and I can tell that this girl really makes you happy.”
I tilted my head. “When the hell did you become so sappy? You’re, like, the biggest fuckboy I know, aside from me a couple of years ago.” I smirked.
“What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good love story.”
Chapter 14
Addison
Iwasturningfromsideto side in the mirror, checking out an outfit option to wear to the winery with Harper on FaceTime. “Yes, girl! Wear those jeans. They make your ass look incredible.”
I rolled my eyes. “Why do I even care what I’m wearing? It’s not like this is a date. We’re just friends, which he made very clear only a week ago…even though we just slept together…multiple times.” I shook my head at the memory. “Plus, his brother is coming with him, and I still can’t shake the feeling that it’s a mistake to jump into another relationship so quickly. My business is my priority, and I can’t lose sight of that.”
Harper laughed. “Girl, get out of your head. He just rocked your world. Fuck whatever he said a week ago. You can’t have that kind of sex and not catch some feelings, just saying.” Her tone suddenly turned serious. “You can also have both. A good relationship and your own successful business. It doesn’t have to be one or the other, and fuck the timing when you meet the right man.” She waved her hand in the air dismissively.
Now it was my turn to laugh. I caught Harper up oneverything that went down last night and this morning, including the story of Dean’s ex-girlfriend. She was convinced the man had it bad for me and that his ex-girlfriend didn’t matter. I wasn’t so sure, and I wasn’t so sure I could trust myself not to get lost in Dean like I did with Noah. We hadn’t really talked about what just happened between us, so I decided I would take Dean’s lead tonight and see what happened.
Harper interrupted my thoughts. “Wear that long-sleeved bodysuit you have. That thing shows off your curves, especially your tits. It’ll look good with those jeans, and then add your thigh-high boots. Those will bring that man to his knees.” Harper did a chef’s kiss.
“You’re crazy. But that’s a good idea. I like the outfit idea. What about my hair? Up or down?” I held it up and looked in the mirror.
“Do a slicked-back high pony. Sexy and intense, like you don’t fuck around.”
I nodded. “I like it.” I sat back down on my bed and held my phone in front of my face. “So, what’s been going on with you? I feel like I haven’t really talked to you in a while.”
“Work has been busy per usual, ya know, flu season and all.” Harper waved her hand in front of her face, but I could tell that wasn’t all that had been keeping her busy. Harper and I could always read each other perfectly.
“Mm-hmm. I know that’s not all. Now spill it.” I narrowed my eyes at her.
She sighed. “Fine. Archer and I have been talking a lot, but I don’t know where it’s going yet, and I don’t want to jinxanything, so I haven’t really been talking about it,” she rushed out.
I smiled. “Aw, Harp, you like this boy.”
She rolled her eyes. “Is that so hard to believe? I don’t know. He’s just different and so fucking hot, obviously. It’s only been a couple of weeks, but it feels like we’ve known each other for a long time. We text all day and FaceTime every night. He just seems to get me. He doesn’t want to change me like every other guy I’ve dated.” She got quiet. “And I’m not too much for him,” she almost whispered.
