Reluctantly, I closed my eyes and let sleep take me.
Walker:
Good morning, James siblings! I know it’s at least a good morning for one of you in particular…
Ava:
Oooo! Walk knows something! Walk knows something!
Weston:
Unsubscribe.
My phone kept vibrating against the nightstand, waking me up. I peeked one eye open, the morning sun filtering softly through the curtains. I looked over at the man sleeping soundly beside me and then shifted my gaze to the end of the bed, where Coal was sprawled out, snoring. My heart squeezed at the sight, and I rubbed my chest at the ache I felt, knowing that this wasn’t permanent. That it would all go back to business as usual and last night would be nothing but a memory…an incredible, mind-blowing memory. I sighed at the sobering thought and reached for my phone.
These fucking siblings of mine, I thought as I rolled my eyes.
Walker:
In case anyone was unsure, it’s Addison. Addison had a good night last night. I saw a certain veterinarian’s truck still parked outside the barn when I went to check on Cash this morning…
Thanks for checking on Cash. Did he look okay?
Walker:
Yeah, he looks a lot better. BUT STOP AVOIDING THE TOPIC!
Ava:
Sweet Cash, I’m so glad he is feeling better…but yeah, Adds…stop acting like we don’t know you’re fucking the doctor.
Weston:
Jesus Christ.
I’m not avoiding the topic or acting like y'all don’t know that something’s going on… I’m choosing not to talk about it. There’s a difference.
Weston:
And this is why you’re my favorite.
Walker:
That’s hurtful, West. FINE, if you don’t want to talk about it, then we won’t, but I’m happy for you and whatever it is. He seems like a good guy.
Ava:
Yeah, what the fuck, West? Agree with Walk, we’re just excited for you, and he is super hot.
That means a lot to me, West. I hold the title with pride. And thanks, guys. There isn’t anything to talk about, because it isn’t anything serious.
Ava:
We’ll see.
I was about to put my phone down when it vibrated in my hand again.
Noah:
