“You look like one too,” Parker said. “Nice outfit.”
“Thanks. Rav chose it.” He was wearing a blue satiny shirt that he knew made the most of his eyes and blond hair, paired with dark jeans. “What do you think of the band?”
“Amazing,” Parker said. “Want to dance?”
“Sure. Come on, Rav.” He took Rav’s empty glass and placed it with his own on a nearby table, then grabbed his hand and tugged him to the dance floor. Harvey would no doubt find them later when he was finished with business.
Rav grinned wide, and Parker laughed as the three of them moved to the music. It was like old times when they were back in Perth, hitting the clubs together. A ballad replaced a fast song so they swayed in each other’s arms until the slower music transitioned to a pop rock hit. By the time they stumbled from the dance floor, he was hot and breathless, but it was worth it to let off all that steam.
“Oh my God, that was so much fun,” Rav said, happiness radiating from his smile. “I haven’t danced like that in ages.”
“Hey, boys. Having fun?” Harvey stepped up and placed an arm around Rav’s waist, but meeting Bo’s eyes. “You looked good out there.”
“I wish you were with us,” Bo said.
“Me too.”
“Have you finished the official duties?” Ravi asked. “Are you playing soon?”
“We’ll do a short set in about an hour. I hope you’re up for a repeat performance on the dance floor.”
Bo chuckled. “Try to hold us back.”
Pretty soon they were joined by the rest of the band, then more people who Bo didn’t know. It seemed HyperOctane was popular. Harvey kept his arm around Rav, but kept his eyes on Bo, making him feel included.
“Hi, I’m Jason,” said a guy who’d sidled up to the group. “Are you with the band?”
“I’m Bo. Yeah, I’m friends with the guys.”
The guy, Jason, laughed. “Oh, an Aussie accent. I should have guessed you were with them. So what do you do, Joe?”
“My name is Bo.”
“Huh? Oh. Beau. B-E-A-U.”
“No. Just plain Bo. B-O.” Bo spelled out his name.
Joe snickered and waved a hand under his nose as if smelling something offensive. Bo rolled his eyes. What is this? Kindergarten?“It’s a shortening of my full name.”
“What’s your actual name then?”
Bo didn’t feel like sharing his personal information. “I’m a nurse,” he said, changing the topic of conversation back to the original question.
“Oh. I would have thought you’d be involved in the music industry or something in entertainment. You’re very cute.” He looked Bo up and down.
Bo raised a brow. “And nurses can’t be cute?”
Jason chuckled. “Of course they can. It’s just that you could be a model or something. I think it’s awesome that you have a job where you take care of people, you know? I’m all for giving back and caring for others.”
“Really? And what is it you do?”
“I’m a photographer.” Jason leaned in closer. “I’d love to take your photo. You have killer cheekbones.”
“Ahh, thank you, I guess.”
“Hey, did you want to get out of here?” Jason asked, his breath warm against Bo’s ear.
Bo shivered for all the wrong reasons. “I… ah… I want to see HyperOctane perform.”
