RG stopped with his fork halfway to his mouth. “Seriously?”
“I hope we get to finish breakfast first,” Gibbo said before shovelling in another mouthful of syrup-laden pancakes.
Parker hadn’t seen so much food on a breakfast table in his life. Aside from Gibbo’s pancakes that were covered in syrup and accompanied by strips of bacon, there were plates of waffles and platters of bacon, eggs, and hash browns. Parker ignored his own bowl of granola and chopped fruit and snagged a piece of bacon. He nibbled as Nigel continued.
“Don’t give me shit, guys. You know how important this is.”
“It’s cool, Nige,” Rafe said. “It’s just that interviews aren’t at the top of the list of things to do on a Sunday.”
“Or ever,” RG muttered under this breath.
“Anyway, I’ve arranged for us to use the hotel library—”
“The hotel has a library?” Gibbo’s eyes were wide. “What for?”
Nigel pursed his lips and shook his head. “To find a book to read or a quiet place to read one.”
Parker shoved another rasher of crispy bacon in his mouth to keep himself from laughing out loud. God, hanging with the guys was amusing.
“As I was saying, they’ll be here just after noon. There’ll be the reporter and one photographer. They’ll want a few photos of you in the hotel grounds. Maybe in the library, or by the pool.”
“That’s the most stupid thing I’ve ever heard of. Who’d want to see photos of us in a goddamned library?” RG said.
He was right as far as Parker was concerned. They were a rock band, for chrissakes, and you’d think the photo backgrounds would capture that.
Nigel rolled his eyes, patience obviously wearing thin. “Actually, the contrast might be quite effective, but if you must, go outside and stand by a bloody palm tree then. Play on the visiting LA angle. I don’t care. Just turn up for the interview, answer the questions, and be nice.”
“I’m always nice.”
“Hmm. Matter of opinion,” Nigel muttered.
This time Parker did laugh as he met Rafe’s eyes across the table. Rafe winked, then returned to business. “So, just to be clear, this is a group interview?”
Group interview? Shit, is there a chance they’ll want to interview me on my own?
“Absolutely.”
Parker breathed a sigh of relief. The nerves in his stomach settled somewhat, and he finished his breakfast.
A few hours later, Parker dressed in dark skinny jeans, a loose khaki tank top, and his Doc Martens, and made his way with Rafe to the ground floor library. “Are you sure I look okay?”
“A million bucks, baby.” Rafe grinned and gave his arm a reassuring squeeze.
Surprisingly, he did feel good. The jeans were tighter than any he’d ever worn before, and he wasn’t sure his balls were entirely happy, but the new top and boots were similar to the things he already had in his wardrobe. Mind you, he usually only wore tanks to the beach or on weekends paired with shorts, not while he was walking around exclusive hotels, but he understood why Rafe suggested he not wear one of his regular T-shirts or a dress shirt. So he looked like himself, sort of. Maybe himself just done differently.Focus!Parker willed his brain to shut up before he ended up in more of a nervous mess than he already was.
As they entered through the double doors, Rafe leaned in close to whisper, “And your arse looks amazing in those jeans.” His hand ghosted along Parker’s backside. Parker sucked in a breath as his gaze flicked to Rafe.
“Just saying.” Rafe winked.
Instead of being nervous, Parker walked into the room laughing, and maybe just a little turned on.
“Ah, here they are.” Nigel directed them to the people who were obviously there to interview them. “This is Len and Annie fromWorld of Rock. Annie will be taking some photos after your interview with Len. Let’s get settled over here.”
They all moved to a lounge area—two long sofas facing each other and a couple of large chairs to sprawl into. Len took a seat in one of those armchairs while Annie hovered in the background.
“I’d like to start with some general questions,” Len said, flipping open his notebook and placing a recorder on the large coffee table between them. “Do you mind if I record the interview?”
“No, go ahead,” Nigel answered for all of them.
