“You still got that spare room?”
Simon nodded. He lived in a house with three other guys and one of them had just moved out.
“Just listen before you say anything. I think I might have a solution if you’re looking to get that room filled. You remember Patrick? Charlie’s friend?”
“How could I forget?” Simon said. To Simon’s amusement, Josh’s eyebrows shot up. He tilted his head and studied Simon.
“What? He was cute and funny. You’ve got to admit that he was definitely entertaining.”
“Yeah, he was,” Josh agreed. “Cute and funny. But he’s got a bit of a problem, and you might be able to help.”
Josh went on to explain the particulars of Patrick’s situation and the harassment he was experiencing at the apartment where he currently lived. Simon’s heart immediately went out to the guy—no one should be living with that. It was amazing Patrick was as happy-go-lucky as he was, although maybe that assumption was premature. After all, I’ve only met the guy once.Simon swept aside his initial reservations. He knew Josh would only recommend Patrick as a housemate if he thought him to be honest and reliable, plus Simon knew Patrick was friendly and they got along. Josh’s opinion of Patrick just reinforced what Simon’s own gut told him about the guy. He nodded.
“So I’ll give Charlie a call and get him to pass your number on to Patrick. You guys can then talk and decide what to do next. See if it works for both of you.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Simon pushed himself up from the table and picked up his box of supplies. At the very least he’d get to see Patrick again, and if everything worked out, get to see a lot more of him. “Sounds like averygood plan.”
