"Yeah, easy for you to say. You're in a nice committed relationship, ready to marry the man of your dreams."
"I am." Josh rested his chin on his hands and adopted a dreamy expression, tempting Simon to toss his pen at him. But he couldn't blame Josh for looking so happy and in love. Simon would do anything to feel that way himself.I want to be happy in love. But then it hit him and he bit back a shocked laugh.
"What?" Josh looked up. "You look like someone just told you the Tooth Fairy isn't real."
"Nothing." Fuck, hedidfeel that way himself. It was the first time he'd acknowledged it. Hewasin love. He just didn't have the happiness part of the happy-and-in-love statement. He wouldn’t have that unless Patrick returned his feelings. And the only way he’d know how Patrick felt, was if he manned up.Oh my God, I’m in love with someone I haven’t even dated.
“You don’t look like it’s nothing. You’re white as a ghost.”
“Sorry. I just realized something.” Simon leaned on his forearms. “Listen, I think maybe you’re right—”
“I know I’m right. No maybe about it.” Josh smirked.
“Right. Well, anyway, I want to do something special for Patrick. He’s been through a lot lately, what with those stupid letters, and I was thinking of maybe a weekend away.”
Josh grinned. “Have I got the place for you.” By the time Josh had filled him in on the cabin in the mountains, Simon knew he had the perfect destination to take Patrick—somewhere Patrick could take a break from his worries, and a quiet spot where they wouldn’t be interrupted so Simon could finally reveal his feelings.
