“I don’t know.I can’t say for sure, but something’s going on.”

“With Destiny?”Ryan asked.

“Maybe, I don’t know.I know that’s vague, but I feel it deep down, something’s going to happen.”

“Check the perimeter,” Ryan told Trip.

“Marcus call Adam and make sure everything at the Pride is fine.”

Ryan sat down next to El as if he would somehow be able to absorb what she was feeling.

“You think it’s the Pantera again?”Shawn asked Ryan.

“I don’t know, but I won’t rule out El’s gut.If she senses something, then we’ll be on guard until we know otherwise.”

The baby quit nursing.and before El could even cover up, the baby was fidgeting and crying again.

“Maybe she’s not getting enough,” El said.

Ryan didn’t know the first thing about nursing, so he just shrugged.

“I could call Willow and ask.Oh gosh, I should have brought Willow with me.I don’t know what I’m doing,” El began to panic.

“You know exactly what you’re doing. You’re doing a wonderful job.Call Willow, and we’ll go from there,” Ryan told her encouragingly as he handed her his phone.

El blew out a breath and nodded as Ryan wiped the tears from her cheeks.

Chapter 42

El

Willow answeredon the third ring.

“Is everything okay, El?”Willow answered.

“I don’t know. The baby keeps fussing.I fed her before we left, and she fussed not even thirty minutes after.I just fed her again, and she’s already working herself into quite a fit.I feel like something’s happening, but I don’t know what to look for.”

“Okay, first off, deep breath. You need to be calm because Destiny feels every little emotion you send off.So, try to relax and be calm.Next, have you checked all the other reasons she could be crying?Does she need her diaper changed, or she needs a nap, or maybe her clothing is inhibiting, somehow.”

El felt like an idiot for not even checking those things, but she had a feeling they weren’t the cause. There was something more going on, but she checked anyways.

“All of that’s fine,” she told Willow.

“Okay, so I want you to take the baby outside, and have Shawn and one of the other men shift.”

“What?Why?”

“Remember, be calm. Most shifters don’t shift until they’re older, but your baby will be much different. There’s a chance she’s simply just uncomfortable in her human form.If you feel something, it’s probably her animal calling to yours.”

“What do we do if she doesn’t shift?”

“Don’t worry about it.Just have the guys shift and see how she reacts.Call me back after, okay?”

“Okay.”

El gave the phone to Ryan and told him what Willow suggested.

“Marcus will do it with Shawn.I don’t think I need to be shifting any time soon,” Ryan commented with a slight smile to his statement.
