El then moved to Shawn and let her hand drift over his slick black fur.

“You’re gorgeous,” she whispered.

“I can’t wait until we can run together in our panther form. She wants her mate,” El told him.Her panther was going crazy, trying to force her to shift.

Shawn too put his head against her belly, and again their child kicked in response.

“Be safe, you two.I’ll see you in three days, or I’m coming after you,” El told them in parting.

Marcus had already loaded Willow into the back of the vehicle.Persia was back there with her, rebandaging her leg.

“Leilani?”El asked when she wasn’t getting in the vehicle.

“I won’t be welcome at the Pride, and my son has an obvious issue with me,” she told El.

“You’re a guardian, are you not?”

“I am,” Leilani replied sternly.

“Then you go where I go,” El told her.

Leilani slid into the back of the vehicle, carefully lifting Willow’s head and laying it on her lap.Marcus started up the vehicle and headed down the small gravel road.El watched in the mirror as Shawn and Ryan grew smaller. Her heart hurt, but when she looked over at Marcus, he was holding his hand out waiting for hers. She placed her hand in his and smiled.

“I missed you,” she murmured.

“Not as much as I missed you,” he replied, bringing her hand up to his lips.

El leaned over placed her head on his shoulder, wishing she could crawl on his lap for the duration of the ride.

They madeit back to pride within an hour, and everything broke out into complete chaos.Members of the pride were storming the main house, demanding to know what was going on.Marcus moved the vehicle inch by inch through the crowds of people until they got to the garage where several of the pride’s security guards helped him get it into the garage without letting any of the angry people in with them.

“That was crazy,” Persia said.

“It’ll only get crazier,” Marcus replied.

They all worked together to get Willow out of the back of the vehicle gently. She had lost a lot of blood and had fallen unconscious in the last fifteen minutes of the ride.Marcus started demanding Herb be brought to him once they entered the house. They placed Willow in the first bedroom they came across, and who El assumed was the Herb Marcus had mentioned came bustling in soon after.

He was an older man, and there was an air of softness that followed him.As soon as he came into the room, El felt comforted. She hoped that was a sign that he would be able to help Willow.

“Oh my,” he said as he examined Willow’s injuries.

“Are you a healer?”El asked since nobody bothered to update her on who the man was.

“No, I dabble in herbs and healing, but I wasn’t gifted by our Mother, just taught,” he replied as he discarded the bandages they had used on Willow.

Another swarm of people entered the room, and El took a protective step closer to Willow.

“They’re healers, let’s allow them to heal her,” Marcus told El, urging her out of the room.

“I’m surprised Claudia isn’t among them?”El questioned, genuinely curious more than she was being snide for once.

“We’re not sure where Claudia has taken off to.We’ve been a bit too preoccupied to care, really.”

Once they were in the hall, El turned and threw herself in Marcus’ arms.He wrapped his arms around her and lifted her with ease and made his way to his room so that they could have some privacy. He sat down on his bed, never letting go of her.
