El could tell something was going on with Shawn, but she trusted him to let her know what when the time was right.El just wanted to turn his mind off for the morning.Once she had finished dressing, they headed outside.Shawn led her to a small path at the mouth of the woods behind his mother’s house.As many times as El had been to his mom’s house before, he had never taken her hiking.
The air was crisp; the sun hadn’t had enough time to warm it up yet.El didn’t mind though, she found she didn’t freeze all the time now that her beasts were at the forefront of her mind.If Shawn was cold, he didn’t mention it.They took off through the woods, listening to the birds sing their morning songs.

At the opening of the woods, there was a cliff that overlooked a deep ravine.The sun hung over the ravine beautifully, calling everything to live for the morning.
“It’s beautiful, Shawn,” El said.
“This is one of my favorite places.If you can get up here and watch the sunrise, it’s even better,” he told her.
“I imagine so.”
Shawn sat down, his back against a lone tree close to the edge of the cliff.El took in the scenery a few more minutes before going and settling herself between his outstretched legs.She laid her back against his chest, loving the feel of his steady breathing behind her.Shawn wrapped his arms around her, and they simply sat there and enjoyed the view for so long, El wasn’t even sure how long they had been out there.
“This has been just what I needed.Thank you, Shawn,” El said, turning to face him.
