Her forehead creased in the cutest frown. ‘I breached my contract.’

‘Youdidn’t. Your fucking sister did.’

She gave me a look like I didn’t understand. ‘Doesn’t matter. I can’t prove it. You signed an exclusivity contract with the publisher. You can’t walk away from that. So you’re gonna have to work with another writer-’ I pressed a finger to her lips for the second time. The thought of working with anyone else made me sick. None of this worked without her.

‘Are you doubting me, Pooh?’ When her brows pinched, her mouth turning down in sadness, I threaded my fingers in her hair, massaging the back of her skull. ‘It’s okay. Tony might be a prick, but he’s fucking great at his job.’

‘He’s not that much of a prick,’ she mumbled, eyes growing heavy as she finally let herself sink into my touch. ‘I think you secretly like him.’

‘No. He’s a prick. Anyway, this time. He actually listened to me.’

Her eyes popped open. Seeing her rich brown eyes brightening before me sent a shock wave through my body… how could I be this in love with one person? The swelling in my chest that felt like my heart was about to split open. Do people really go about their life with this feeling inside them? I wasn’t sure if I wanted to burst into tears or scream for joy. I did the only thing that felt right—I pulled her closer.

‘How is he sorting it?’

I grinned. ‘I made him put a clause in the contract that says if they ever fired you, their contract with me will be dissolved.’

Her whole body stiffened in my arms. ‘Oliver—when did you—whydid you…’

‘I had a feeling those twats would use any chance they could to mess with you. I wanted a safety measure in place.’

Her eyes blinked so quickly, they looked ready to take flight. ‘So there’s no book? But your career… the seasons starting soon, the whole point of it-‘

‘Pooh, stop,’ I said tenderly. The flow of words ceased. Temporarily, at least.

‘I’m back on the team.’

She froze… I only had a split second before her arms were lifted up in the air, circling my neck as a loud shriek of happiness burst from her. I grabbed hold of her just in time.

‘Oh my god! I’m so happy for you.’ She screeched.

I started laughing. My arms wrapped around her waist, and I picked her up, swinging her around, earning me another adorable giggle.

‘I can’t believe you’re going back to playing,’ she panted when I finally put her feet back on the ground.

‘Because of you.’ I cupped her cheek, hauling her into my embrace. The wind ruffled her blonde locks, and her smile rose higher, reaching her sparkling eyes.

‘It was all you, Oliver.’

‘Actually, I think you can take credit for this one. A certain video might have leaked. It seems to have public opinion swaying in my favour.’

Her smile dropped. ‘Wait, it leaked? How did it?—’

An innocent smile plastered on my face. Her eyes narrowed.

‘Oliver.’

‘Yes, baby?’

‘What did you do?’

I cleared my throat. ‘Well… I believe I’ve just told the woman of my dreams that I’m in love with her, and I’m still waiting for her to say it back.’

A disbelieving laugh tumbled past her lips. A bright smiletook over her perfect face. She slid her arms around my waist, pressing our bodies together and gazed up at me with an expression that nearly brought me to my knees.

‘I love you, Oliver Blake.’

I paused, letting her words settle in my soul. ‘I love you too, Pooh.’
