She marched off to sit in a chair in the corner away from us.

"Don't mind her. She's always in a bitter mood with loud opinions on everything." Liv tried to comfort me, but it wasn't working. "Let's just sit and wait for someone to tell us what's happening."

Hours passed before someone came out to talk to the three of us. They told us that Davis' right leg was broken and had been repaired in surgery. He had a concussion, some internal bleeding, and some broken ribs, but that he was lucky considering what had happened. I didn't feel like he was lucky with how hurt he was, but the doctor knows best, I guess.

"You can see him one at a time if you like."

"I'll go," Izzy said, getting up and heading to the doors before the doctor. Izzy reemerged rather quickly only ten minutes after she had gone in. "He's fine, so I'm heading back home. I have shit I need to do."

My heart broke for Davis at seeing how little love and affection his daughter held for him. I wished I could repair their relationship, but I don't know her that well to try to help.

"I'll go ahead. That way you can stay with him the entire time once I leave," Liv told me, squeezing my hand.

I nodded at her, letting her go in. Was this how she felt when Lucas had his car accident? I had gone in first with mom so I could ease my worry almost instantly, but Liv was the last one to go in and see him. She must have been so scared as she waited out here.

Liv took longer than Izzy, which I was both happy and upset about. I was ready to see him, but I was glad that he could have time with her. Liv finally came out thirty minutes later. She held the door open for me and led me to Davis' room. She squeezed me in a tight hug before waving without a word.

I stepped into Davis' room, seeing him laying down and staring out the window. I rushed to his side, grabbing his hand and sitting in the chair that had been moved to sit beside him. He looked at me differently, and it made me worry. Was he mad at me for making him get hurt in a way?

"Come here," he said, breaking the silence as he patted the bed beside him. I carefully crawled into bed next to him, letting his arms wrap around me. I cried again.Stupid tears won't stop."I'm so sorry about Izzy. Liv told me what happened. I hope you know that I'm serious about you, whether or not Izzy is accepting of us."

"Davis, I am so sorry. You're hurt because of me, and now I'm going to cause another rift between you and your daughter."

"Don't worry about that. I don't blame you for getting hurt. That's entirely on me and my stupidity. I didn't see the car when I came towards you. Lisa, thank you for coming with me. Thank you for leaving behind your dad and staying by my side. I may be a little broken right now, but I'll still keep you safe. Now tell me what happened in Chris' house. I saw how scared you looked when I saw you. That's kind of what made me not pay attention to anything else. Tell me it all, Lisa."

His hand rubbed my arm gently as he spoke. He knew something had happened. He could tell from just looking at me. I swallowed, feeling the tears build up in me again at the memory of Daniel trying to trap me in the bathroom. Davis held me close, somehow making me feel stronger. I took a deep breath before I began recounting everything to him.

"I'll fucking kill him. Just wait until I get better. He'll never touch a woman again," Davis seethed his threat through gritted teeth. He was absolutely furious.

"I still can't believe it. I mean, what kind of guy wants to sleep with his son's fiance? It's disgusting." I shuddered at the thought, still feeling his hands on me.

"I've got you now, Lisa. He'll never get to you. You did so good, my little warrior. You fought him and escaped him. I am very proud of you, Lisa."

His words were mending my heart, making me feel better. His praises were something I didn't realize I needed to hear. He was giving me strength I didn't know I still had in me.

"Thank you," I whispered, nuzzling my head further into his chest. The rhythmic beat of his heart calmed me further.

He was okay.

"I love you, Lisa. You're my world, and I won't let anyone hurt you."

"I love you, too, Davis. Please take care of yourself, too. I can't lose you."

"I'll be more careful. I am sorry I scared you."

I shook my head no at him. He shouldn't be apologizing to me. It's the other way around.

"No, I'm sorry you got hurt having to come rescue me. One of these days, I'll be strong and you won't have to worry about saving me."

"I know, Lisa. I know that day is coming soon." He squeezed me tight, making me feel whole again.

"Do you think the hospital frowns on sex? I feel like I can't sleep unless you're inside me," I admitted, making him chuckle.

"Yeah, Lisa, I am sure the hospital would be unhappy with us if we did such a thing." I sighed, knowing he was right. "I promise once we leave here and I get you back home, I'll stay buried deep inside you for as long as you want."

"As long as I want?" I looked up at him with a brow arched, seeing his handsome smile.

"As long as you want," he confirmed.
