He pushes his knot in suddenly, and I scream. The world goes black, and there’s a ringing like bells of happiness inside me. I know I’m screaming, and my body is rigid, but it’s all so far away.

I can taste blood in my mouth, and there’s a searing pain on my breast, and then the fast, deep currents of the ocean fill up the space inside me.Devon’s possessive and tender love, so fierce and determined, is a thing of wonder. He loves me so completely.

I had no idea.

I stroke his back, panting and kissing his neck.

“Devon, I didn’t know.”

“Neither did I.”

He carefully lets my legs go and then lifts me up. I shudder as he lifts me off his knot.

They take me to the shower and take turns washing me and each other. They tend my bonds with obsessive meticulousness, making sure they are clean. I try to do the same, but they just laugh and kiss me until I forget.

“We need to head back; it’s almost sunset,” Elijah says.

I step back, trying to get my head to clear, but I’m just so happy.

“Welcome to Pack Hart,” Mack says.

“Welcome home.” Devon kisses my forehead. “Now, go get dressed so we can go and celebrate Valentine's Day in Sunshine style.”

“But my clothes?”

Elijah leads us into the bedroom and into the walk-in closet, where I find a massive collection of clothes.

“You got me these?”

I pause, looking at another section of the walk-in closet where I see a whole heap of dog clothes, leads, and harnesses.

My chest tightens, and I clench my hand against my chest. They are amazing. I love them. The feeling bounces back, and I gasp, my knees weakening, but Devon is there, grabbing me and holding me up.

I turn in his arms, sobbing. He holds me tight.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m happy. I’m just so happy.”

Chapter 36

Sofia

Main Street has been transformed for a second time today. The fairy lights are red and pink, and mesh gold hearts shake every now and then and rain rose petals down on the people underneath. The café is open, but the street has been transformed into a massive dance floor, and songs about love pump out of several speakers.

There are stalls with food and trinkets, and everything is love-coded.

“Here they are!” Felix shouts out and whistles.

The crowd turns and sees us; cheers go up again. I’m pulled into arms and hugged. When I look for my alphas, I find them smiling and looking at me, even though they have their own crowd of well wishers.

Danger is shoved into my arms and licks my face and wiggles happily. Someone has dressed him in a gold vest, and he’s got LED lights that are flashing in a heart shape on his back.

“Oh, you look gorgeous, baby boy,” I croon to him.

“Now that everyone is here!” My mother says into a microphone. “Welcome to the Smitten and now Bitten celebration party! Where we celebrate love in all its forms. Family love, friendship love, love between packs, and that rare and amazing miracle of scent matches. To all the matches who found love tonight, I wish you as much happiness as I have been blessed with. And to those still seeking, never give up!”

Several confetti canons explode, showering us in gold hearts.
