Once I was seated, I lifted my feet onto the rear pegs just above the exhaust pipe. My knees hiked up toward my stomach, forcing my arms around Spencer’s tensed abs.
God, that’s a problem.
But in these close quarters, every option felt suggestive. Flinching, I shifted my hands up, a bit farther than I’d intended.
Through her mask, Spencer chuckled. “As nice as my tits are, they aren’t very secure.”
Another blush rose to my cheeks, and I thanked god she couldn’t see me back here.
Is higher better?I could slide my arms beneath hers, wrapping my hands up over the broad muscle of her shoulders. But a frown tugged at my lips.Doesn’t seem the safest…
“Relax.” Spencer grabbed my hovering hands, intertwining my fingers across her stomach. One pat was enough to reassure me that it was the best spot.
My throat tightened as she revved the engine. The rumble shot straight through me, matching the tremor in my chest. But before I could get any second thoughts, the blue bike peeled down the gravel driveway toward the gate.
It wasn’t until we were past the gates and onto the paved back streets that Spencer really let the bike loose. The bike picked up speed on every downhill, maintaining it as we zipped up the next.
My heart pounded in my chest. But I could hardly hear the pumping blood in my ears over the roar of the bike’s engine.
Each curve was taken with Spencer clutching the brake lever gently, lowering her chest to the handles and pulling me with her as we careened around the hairpin turns of these forest roads.
I knew all I had to do was tap her to stop it, to slow her down. But I’d never felt a thrill like this. Even rollercoasters felt like child’s play compared to this. There were safety mechanisms there, bars and seat belts to keep your life from being ripped from you.
On this bike, all there was was Spencer’s skill, the metal of the Suzuki, and the blacktop underneath us.
One wrong move and it’d be over. All of this. Whether I liked it or not.
The thought alone made me tighten my grip around Spencer’s waist. It didn’t stop her from maintaining speed, making the drive feel even faster than it was.
In fact, it felt like she was getting riskier. I was surprised Spencer would play so recklessly with her favorite new toy.
Until it clicked: the scarier she drove, the harder I held her.
Little bastard.
As ridiculous as it was, risking her life just for my touch, it was kind of flattering. Poor little sapphics, I was starving them with my straight girl nonsense.
But knowingwhyshe was driving like this was enough for me to loosen my grip.
Just in time for Spencer to slow the bike as we entered the lowered speed limit of the town.
Through the blurring trees, I scanned for a town sign. I still wasn’t sure where I’d been taken after the fight with Gabe. We certainly had gone farther away than I was expecting.
The mysterious vibe of the forest had given way to a quaint town. Painted storefronts and slow pedestrians felt likea complete disconnect from the haunted mansion we’d just left. But then I saw the sign:
Welcome To Valemont
No… I can’t be back here.
A chill ran down my spine as the picturesque main street gave way to a shady downtown.
My father’s hometown. The place where his life began and ended.
I’d sworn I wouldn’t come back here. I’d done everything in my power to avoid it, to skip visits with Mom. These memories were far too tender to risk.
But now, I wasn’t just back in Valemont. I was captive in it.
