My breathing escalated, desperate for more of her — those soft lips.
Between my legs, a deep ache spread through my body.
Shaking my head, I looked down at the wood floors. You don’t want her like that. Sheepish and unsure.
No. When I took her, I wanted her to be certain. Because once I did, once I staked my claim to her, she’d never be allowed to leave my sight.
My jaw clenched, my teeth grinding under the force of my restraint. Letting my hand rest against the doorframe, I steadied my breathing and forced air into my lungs.
Not a straight girl in sight.I shook my head as I pushed off the frame and moved back down the hallway.
As I took the stairs down to the foyer, I couldn’t get the feeling of her lips out of my mind. I was desperate to grab Kiera, to hold her waist close as I slipped my tongue into her throat.
The rush of cold air pulled me from my fantasies as I stepped back outside. Rolling my eyes, I walked over to the carriage house where we’d parked our two bikes. Spencer hadn’t even bothered to put hers away, despite the obvious, dark clouds overhead that certainly meant overnight rain.
Reaching into her saddle bag, I grabbed the black vinyl cover and threw it over the Suzuki. I secured each tie into place, making sure the newly repaired motorcycle wouldn’t get rained on.
But as I knelt down and looked up at the towering mansion, the light from Kiera’s room caught my eyes. It was one of the only lights on this side of the house. All I could see were shadows dancing on the ceiling as she got herself to bed.
Is she as desperate as I am?
My temples pulsed. Maybe she was just horny, needing to get off. I knew better than to get invested in a straight girl. But I’d be damned if that one wasn’t always checking me out.
It was the lights coming down the driveway that drew my attention away from her shadow just as she was lifting her shirt over her head.
The roar of a dark motorcycle made it more than obvious who was pulling up. Her tires crunched gravel as she slowed to a stop at the front door.
Standing up, I waved as Dom turned off her Brabus 1300 R. Once the headlight flicked off, the pitch black bike nearly fadedinto the darkness of the winter night. Except of course for the signature brass exhaust pipe.
It wasn’t the newest bike on the market but there were only just over a hundred of them in the world. And Dom had one of them.
“Hey.” I nodded to her as she peeled off her helmet. Her dark black hair spilled out from the top, running her hand through it to fluff out the helmet hair.
Dom held out her hand, dapping me up as she stopped next to me. “Hey.” A breathy laugh came from her lips as she saw whose bike I was covering. “Rain?”
“Yep.” Moving on to my Ducati, I watched as Dom grabbed the cover for her own bike. But as I did, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Kiera’s window, her light still on. Her shadow was still moving along the ceiling. What I wouldn’t give for a peek.
I felt Dom’s gaze follow mine. “That girl.”
Shaking her head, Dom’s jaw tensed. “Tell me about it.”
My brow furrowed, trying to read meaning into her words. She wasn’t a chatty kathy by any means, but every once in a while — when she was feeling particularly vulnerable — Dom just might let me in.
Something about Kiera set Dom off, brought her back to some dark place that none of us were privy to.
Shrugging, I looked at her. “I’d rather you tell me first.”
Stern, Dom stood and walked toward the door. “The Oracle has passed down another mission. Stake out.”
No dice.
But the weight of the stakeout hit harder than being iced by one of my best friends. If The Oracle was sending us on another mission, something was haunting Valemont. Some dark corner of the world was infecting the quaint little town I’d been calling home.
When the rest of the world had gotten too loud, Valemont had sheltered me — quieting the chaos of reality.
Following behind her, we stopped just before the oak doors to Dom’s mansion. “What about her?” As soon as the words left my lips, I knew the answer but I prayed I was wrong.
Through gritted teeth, Dom reached for the doorknob. “She comes with.”
