Jep looked up at Titus and asked, “What do we do with the vehicles still at the first gate?”
“Tell whoever’s in the tower facing that way to put a burst right in the middle of the whole bunch.Destroy the vehicles but leave the gate standing.”
Jep nodded then texted a short command to Ulysses.A moment later, another blast hit the air and the whole group watched as the cars on the other side of the gate blew up.Men were trying to run but their clothes were on fire and the debris from the cars blowing up hit them as it rained down.
As soon as the bikers saw that the family were heading their way now, Bouncer and Boomer told everyone to get in a safe place then told several of their men to go to the roof but to stay down so they wouldn’t be seen right away.
The remaining men stood beside the windows and waited for the Sanchez family to make their way to the top.
Meanwhile, in the woods...
The Sanchez group stopped briefly as the second blast hit.
Their faces and voices were on the camera feed and they looked spooked.
Lily made the sign of the cross and then moved forward.
Eduardo and his brother paused for a moment then looked at each other.
Eduardo shrugged and stepped forward again.
His brother Ricardo glared at him then hitched his gun a little higher and stomped after him.
Lorance and Brenden stared at the others in the group then at each other.
Eduardo swung around and pointed his rifle at the brothers.“You two better not run away. You are in this up to your necks and if you don’t see this through I will send you to hell to join your father.”He growled.
Both men shook their heads and assured him they weren’t going anywhere but forward.
Eduardo motioned for them to take the lead.Lorance and Brenden reluctantly took the lead and it went without saying that they felt the feeling of weapons pointed at their backs the rest of the way up the mountain.
Lily kept looking up at the sky as if she were looking for something or someone who wasn’t there anymore. She called out to her father, “Where is he?He should have been here by now.”
Eduardo shrugged.“Maybe he got lost, that boy can’t find his way out of a wet paper bag sometimes.”
A few minutes later, Lily stopped again and sniffed the air.“What the hell?”she called out.
Eduardo paused and looked at her.“What is it, daughter?”
Lily sniffed the air again and growled.“Don’t you smell that? That’s jet fuel and the scent of something that goes boom when it's fired.”
Her cousin Carlos looked around and said, “I smell fire.”
Everyone ran off the left and when they got to the back side of the mountain they could see the debris field.
Lily gasped then raised her hand to cover her mouth as she stared at the huge field below her.“They shot down his plane?”she whispered.“Those fuckers killed him. They shot down his plane and fucking killed him!”She wailed.
Her father walked over to her and slapped her hard.“Focus on the mission. We need to get your brother and kill every single one of those bikers. That’s what matters here, not some flyboy you’re sleeping with. You’ll find another loser to take his place soon enough.”
Lilly whipped her head around and glared at her father. She raised her hand to slap him back.
Before she could, Eduardo slapped her again, this time harder than before.
Her head snapped to the side. When she looked back at him, her eyes were icy cold as a line of fresh blood dripped down from the corner of her mouth. She didn’t say anything as she knew if she opened her mouth, he would hit her again.
Eduardo just turned his back on her, heading back to the trail that would lead them up toward the biker’s stronghold.
Lily raised her rifle up to a firing position but she didn’t touch the trigger. As much as she wanted to, her finger stayed away from the trigger. She slowly lowered her rifle and followed her father back to the trail.
Richardo kept track of her movements the rest of the way. When they reached the top, they all stopped and stared at the command center standing behind the fence line.
Eduardo looked over at the Lawler brothers and asked, “How do we get over the fence?”
Lorance shrugged.“I have no idea. The first time we were here that fence stood between us and them just as it does now.We never did get inside.”
“Let’s end this,” Lily called out.“Shoot at the windows. Those bikers are nothing.”She raised her rifle and began lobbing shots at the clubhouse.
And that’s when the fun really began...
