Daniel shook his head.
“They are not good sorts of people, Sawyer. Which is why I am going to help you get him out of here.”
“Thank you.”
“After I leave here, I will begin searching for him.”
I nodded as he finished his cup of coffee.
“Daniel, don’t double cross me. Don’t test me.”
“Like I said, I like you and Michael. I would much rather see the boy go safely to America. Go back to your hotel, Sawyer. Get some rest. I will text you when I have located him.”
He fucking better.
CHAPTERELEVEN
Sawyer
Taylor’s sweet and smoky scented shower gel and lotion immediately met me at the door as soon as I stepped into the hotel room. Even though we’d wiped the surfaces down with bleach wipes before we left this morning, her scent overpowered the bleach scent.
I took my coat off and went to the window. It was late in the afternoon now, and the sun had been hidden behind the winter storm clouds all day. I was pretty sure the sun was down anyhow because the sky that had been light gray was now turning a bit darker. Eighteen hours of darkness really puts a damper on things.
I sat in the comfy chair and propped my feet up on the table as I looked out over a quickly darkening Stockholm. It was still light enough that I could see the frozen lake across the street from the hotel. It was actually a quaint city that would be fun to scope out under different circumstances.
“How do people get used to eighteen hours of darkness?” I murmured under my breath as I rubbed my tired eyes. In my head I could hear Taylor’s voice reminding me about the dangers of touching door handles and then touching my eyes. I could almost hear the cap of her hand sanitizer opening and then snapping closed.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and sent a text to her.
I’m living on the edge now. I just touched my eyes after touching the door handle to the hotel room.
Did you already manage to captivate a Swede and talk her into going back to the hotel room?
Funny.I decided to mess with her some.
No, but I had a quickie with the chick serving coffee and pastries at the coffee shop where I met Daniel. Took her to the men’s room and gave her my éclair.
I grinned at the text as I hit the send button.
You’re so gross.
And just remember, you had a piece of this.
I’m nauseated each time I remember.
How is everyone?
Everyone is asleep. I keep waking Alek up about every forty-five minutes in case he does have a concussion. That way he doesn’t sleep too long.
Anything out of Anna?
Nothing. She’s very withdrawn. Anything with Daniel?
Interesting coffee meeting with him. It was odd.
How so?
It’s almost too much to type.
