“I hope not.”

I took a deep breath. I left my luggage next to the steps and helped Alek up them. Inside the cabin, Holly was already helping Bowden and Aurora get buckled in for takeoff. Both had blankets wrapped around them. Anna sat void of any expression. Taylor quickly showed Alek to a seat, and he flopped down in it, reaching for his head.

“Taylor,” I said, to grab her attention. She immediately came over as Holly went to Alek. “I’m going to stay.”

“What?”

“I need to find Jensen. I’m not going to leave him here to either die or endure whatever the fuck is going on with Wade.”

“That’s noble but not part of the plan.”

“I don’t care.”

“I’ll stay with you.”

“No—”

“Two heads are better than one. Besides, you need my navigation skills.”

“I think Jensen is in that shed.”

“Did Alek say that?”

“No. But he said he’s been in the shed. He said there’s a mattress in there and that bad stuff goes on. He could just be talking or making it up, but I believe him.”

“Let me stay with you.”

“No. Look, their mother isn’t worth shit. You’ve got to take care of the kids. When you land in Colorado, make certain Michael gets them to a doctor.” I glanced at Alek. “Maybe an emergency room for Alek. The kid has some head injury.”

“What about you? What are you going to do?”

“I’ll text you in a bit.”

“Are you going to call Michael?”

“I will.”

I stepped onto the stairs, and Taylor called my name again. I turned toward her and she plastered her lips against mine. My tongue mingled with hers for a moment, and when we pulled apart, she stepped into the jet.

“Miss me already?” I smiled when she rolled her eyes.

“No. I don’t even like you and am looking forward to the flight back to the States without your ass.” She smirked. “But I’m going to come back for you. As soon as they are all reunited with Aria.”

“I’ve got it handled.”

“It could take you weeks to find him.”

“Then it’ll take me weeks. But I’m going to find him. I think he’s in that shed.”

Holly appeared. “We need to get going,” she announced.

I waved to them and then walked down the steps. I collected my luggage and went inside the terminal. I got a cup of coffee from the coffee cart and stood by the window to watch the jet. It taxied to the runway and, after a brief stop, it took off. I stayed by the window until the jet was no longer visible and then I sat down.

Now was as good a time as any to call Michael.
