“If you had stepped onto the plane and immediately taken your seat, then that would have been one thing. But you had to stand there and flirt with the flight attendant, which delayed us even more.”

“Flirt?” I looked toward the front of the jet for Holly but didn’t see her. “You thought I was flirting?”

Taylor’s eyebrow shot up. “Weren’t you?”

“I was simply saying good morning to her and making quick, polite conversation.”

“My God, Sawyer. You’re so full of it.”

Taylor turned to face forward as the jet made a brief stop before speeding down the runway. Seconds later the jet smoothly glided into the atmosphere. I picked my cell phone up and opened the text string with Michael.

Just took off. Flight attendant is hot.

Don’t do that shit, man.

What?

The flight attendant.

It’s a long flight, man. I have to do something to keep me entertained for the duration.

Look out the window.

That’s boring. Holly doesn’t look boring. She blushed easily.

Talk to Taylor. Be nice and friendly. She’s a great conversationalist.

That’s a negative. She’s bitchy.

Why?

I have no clue.

Really? You have no idea why she’s not being cordial?

Their connection really was fucking annoying.

I may have arrived barely in time.

I glanced out of the corner of my eye at Taylor. She was sitting quietly, looking out the window, and the scent of the berry explosion still lingered in the air.

And I flirted with Holly.

Get your head screwed on straight, Sawyer. Don’t fuck this up.

Again, when have I ever fucked something up?

Don’t let this be the first time. This is too important to me.

I know it is, and I won’t mess it up.

Just bring everyone home.

Did Aria say if there’s been any change or if Jensen showed up?

Jensen still isn’t back.

Fuck. I set the phone down on the oak console table. I took a deep breath and leaned back in the seat. This was going to be a long flight to New York. Hopefully Taylor would calm the fuck down and not open that bottle of berry explosion again.
